Job Summary

We are seeking a Philippines-based Senior Accountant to provide advanced accounting services and oversee financial management for UK accounting firms. This role includes preparing complex financial reports, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards, managing teams, and advising on process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in UK accounting and tax practices, leadership skills, and a proficiency in advanced accounting and payroll tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Oversight and Reporting:
    • Prepare and review detailed financial statements, management accounts, and cash flow forecasts.
    • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and regulatory standards.
    • Support year-end financial reporting and audit processes.
  • Tax Compliance and Advisory:
    • Oversee VAT return preparation and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
    • Manage corporate tax filings and assist clients with tax planning.
  • Team Leadership and Review:
    • Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate accountants.
    • Review and ensure the accuracy of team deliverables, including reconciliations, reports, and journal entries.
    • Provide training and guidance to improve team efficiency and knowledge.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Manage payroll processing for clients, ensuring accuracy in PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
    • Utilize payroll software, such as BrightPay or similar tools, to process and reconcile payroll.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and recommend improvements.
    • Leverage tools such as Dext, Hubdoc, or Syft for automation and enhanced accuracy.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing strategic advice.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including working with UK clients or firms.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Dext.
  • Experience with payroll systems like BrightPay, Gusto, or similar tools.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and home office setup.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Familiarity with tools like Syft for financial insights and analytics.
  • Experience managing books for multiple industries.
  • Advanced tax advisory and planning experience.
