The Regulatory Risk & Quality manager leads and is responsible for regulatory change management and the quality control program consisting of compliance test cycles and compliance monitoring activities. The 2 primary goals are 1) getting the regulatory change management process in place and providing practical regulatory guidance to the business, and 2) providing prioritized quality control activities (testing and monitoring) to ensure that the Company’s operations are conducted in accordance with the complex legal/regulatory requirements applicable to the P&C insurance industry.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee regulatory change management matters as it relates to all lines of small business insurance, ensuring all products meet the statutory and regulatory requirements of each state in which we do business.
- Oversee the quality management program to mitigate risk through the proper design, execution, and validation of test cycles and monitoring activities for identified and prioritized risks.
- Use leadership and managerial skills to lead, mentor, and develop a team of compliance professionals.
- Attend all leadership calls and oversees effective communication, direction, and priority concerning complex regulatory activity that impacts any products and/or product related forms to ensure timely and accurate compliance with state insurance laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain efficient processes, procedures, and measurements for timely and accurate:
- regulatory change management implementation
- quality control prioritization, design, implementation, and validation
- Oversees and maintain detailed documentation of compliance procedures, findings, and recommendations.
- Prepare summary and trend reports for upper management to include compliance strengths and weaknesses, and actionable suggestions for improvement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school a plus.
- At least 5+ years of regulatory/compliance experience, with significant experience in the commercial insurance industry required.
- The successful candidate will have ideally managed and developed teams of people, showcasing the ability to effectively communicate, influence, and train.
- Prior experience with Workers’ Compensation and/or Comprehensive Auto insurance policies is a plus.
- Familiarity with insurance policy forms.
- Knowledge of the insurance claims lifecycle and relevant state guidelines is preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- A proven track record in a fast-paced start up environment is ideal. Must be comfortable “building the plane as you fly it”, building processes from scratch, and working in the grey.

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
