Safety Officer - Electrical

Implements and manages the company's occupational safety and health program; conducts safety inspections and trainings.

About the job:

  • Responsible for the implementation of Occupational Safety Programs set by the company, government agencies and International standards
  • Conduct trainings related to Fire Safety, Accident Prevention, Occupational Safety and Health Programs, Electrical Safety and others.
  • Compliance to safety and health concerns as promulgated by legal and other regulations.
  • Acquire all necessary permits and certificates including renewal as required by relevant regulatory agencies and inform top management regarding the said matter.
  • Support in planning, coordinating and providing companywide safety program and manage its implementation.
  • Conducts regular safety audits and inspection together with other safety officers on each departments including the inspection of facilities, worksites, equipment, work practices, and safety devices to ensure compliance with required workplace safety standards, regulations, and company policy; reports findings to department and recommends changes to establish safe work conditions; may compel cessation of work to address potential imminent hazards; monitors changes and/or makes follow-up inspections.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; maintains proper documentation to conform with the record-keeping requirements of the company and government agencies
  • Attend the meetings for the Safety Officer, which may from time to time be called by the Department and organization.
  • Act as one of the liaison officers to the relevant occupational safety and health regulatory agencies.
  • Handle other matters of safety concern as required by his employer

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, human resources, or a closely related field with supplemental training in safety, industrial hygiene, or ergonomics
  • 3+ years of experience performing duties of a Safety Officer or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
  • Principles and practices of evaluating and implementing a comprehensive safety program
  • Training techniques
  • Basic principles of risk management; techniques of accident prevention; laws and regulations applicable to employee safety and occupational health (i.e. OSH of the Labor Code of the Philippines
  • Application of statistical methods to management analysis, including industrial safety practices
  • Methods of assessing safety hazards and controls
  • Techniques for conducting accident investigations and safety inspections
  • English grammar and usage.
  • Ability to investigate and evaluate safety problems and issues, learn relevant aspects of the involved industries and operations of various departments
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels of the organization
  • Analyze situations accurately and make timely and effective recommendations
  • Interpret safety and environmental laws and regulations
  • Plan and present safety training programs
