Job description

As a Business Analyst for IT Systems at ATN, you’ll be key in aligning technology with business goals to drive operational excellence. In this fully remote role, you’ll collaborate with stakeholders across both domestic and international markets to gather requirements, analyze processes, and deliver scalable IT solutions. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, skilled in translating business needs into technical outcomes, and thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments. You’ll help shape systems that support ATN’s mission to enrich lives in remote and rural communities through reliable, accessible technology, making a real impact while working on diverse, high-impact initiatives.

Business Analyst Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  1. Requirements Gathering:
    • Engage with business stakeholders to understand their needs and objectives.
    • Elicit, document, and analyze business requirements for IT systems.
    • Conduct workshops and interviews to gather information from subject matter experts.
    • Undertake preliminary analysis of business requirements and use this information to scope projects. (project boundaries and scale).
  1. Business Process Analysis:
    • Examine existing business processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
    • Propose optimized processes and solutions to streamline operations.
  1. Solution Design:
    • Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to design IT systems that align with business requirements.
    • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed. (Functional requirements (BRD – Business Requirements Document), Use Cases, GUI, Screen, and Interface design). 
    • Create functional specifications and detailed documentation for development teams.
    • Formulate functional solutions, which may take the form of new/enhanced functionality and / or adaptations of existing functionality.  
    • Document business, system and functional requirements and feasible solutions. 
    • Provide estimates or quotes, with appropriate documentation and explanation.
    • Consider the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
    • Use analytical and product management skills to thoroughly understand how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  1. System Implementation and Testing:
    • Facilitate the development and implementation of IT systems based on approved designs.
    • Participate in testing activities, ensuring the delivered solutions meet specified requirements.
  1. Data Analysis:
    • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to the business.
    • Use data-driven insights to support decision-making and provide recommendations.
    • Perform system, process and application monitoring and gather metrics.
  1. Change Management:
    • Assist in managing the change process associated with IT system implementations.
    • Develop and deliver training materials to help users adapt to new systems and processes.
  1. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders to manage expectations and provide updates on project progress.
    • Present findings and project status reports to management and key stakeholders.
    • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the organization's IT systems.
    • Suggest and implement improvements to enhance the performance and effectiveness of IT systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in IT system analysis and implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in requirements gathering and process modeling techniques.
  • Knowledge of various software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm among members of the business and help manage the process of creating innovative change.
  • Superior written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills are required. This includes sharing complex and sensitive information properly.
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of Project Lifecycle methodologies (SDLC, Agile, etc.).
