Purpose of the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to lead the commercial expansion of our innovative surgical robotic platform for soft tissue surgery in Ireland. This role focuses on market development, strategic partnerships, and driving sales growth in hospitals and surgical centers. This includes engaging all key stakeholders to efficiently drive and close sales. The role demands a high level of expertise and assurance in communicating effectively with both surgeons and executive-level hospital leadership, including the C-suite.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility and accountability for the sales process, including presenting and demonstrating the robotic platform and securing purchase commitments.
  • Achieve and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to identify, pursue, and convert sales opportunities leveraging the Surgical innovations and wider M.E.D. Surgical sales team
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers, turning them into strategic business partners.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for customers on clinical, technical, and commercial matters.
  • Conduct comprehensive business planning, ensuring a sustainable long term pipeline is developed
  • Gather, analyse, and report on competitor and market intelligence to inform strategy and positioning.
  • Provide insights and feedback to internal teams on market trends, customer needs, and promotional activities.
  • Attend, coordinate and represent the company at relevant industry conferences, exhibitions, and hospital site road shows.
  • Collaborate with the RCSI on Robotic training programmes while building key stakeholder relationships and leverage for sales and product awareness

Requirements:

  • Experienced in multi-specialty laparoscopic surgery
  • Proven track record in medical device or surgical sales, ideally within robotics or capital equipment.
  • Significant demonstrable knowledge of the Irish Healthcare system
  • Strong understanding of hospital procurement pathways and surgical workflows.
  • Experience in Operating Room process management or hospital staff education development/training with demonstrated experience in customer and peer training, specifically related to advanced technology within a clinical environment.
  • Ability to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels, including surgeons, clinical staff, procurement, and hospital executives.
  • Life science degree preferred or equivalent clinical/medical degree or experience.
  • Experience of Minimal Access Surgery, Navigation and/or Robotics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work autonomously in a field-based role.
  • Willingness to travel within the territory and occasionally internationally.
