Mainframe Specialist

This is a remote position.

Our client is looking for a z/OS Mainframe Systems Specialist to join their infrastructure team. This role involves comprehensive management of enterprise mainframe environments, encompassing system administration, software deployment, and operational excellence within a sysplex configuration. The position also requires expertise in Control-D workflow management solutions.

System Operations & Maintenance:

• Ensure optimal performance and availability of z/OS mainframe infrastructure and associated applications
  

• Diagnose and resolve intermediate-level technical issues, conducting thorough root cause analysis
  

• Collaborate with technology vendors for troubleshooting initiatives and implement recommended solutions while providing necessary diagnostic data
  

• Monitor critical system performance indicators proactively to identify enhancement opportunities
  

Technical Implementation:

• Deploy and configure third-party mainframe applications and related updates
  

• Process and fulfill user access provisioning requests
  

• Execute documented testing protocols and deployment procedures
  

Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of z/OS mainframe architecture within sysplex configurations (mandatory)
  

• Minimum 5 years in mainframe operations and support roles
  

• Solid grasp of IT infrastructure system fundamentals
  

• Working knowledge of z-series hardware architecture
  

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Assembler, COBOL, REXX, or SAS)
  

• Competency with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF utilities
  

• Experience with BMC Control-D workflow management platforms
  

• Understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery principles
