What We Need

We’re looking for a Director, Publishing Production on the publishing team who can drive operational excellence as we support the development team on early development, user testing, milestone review, launch readiness and through long-term service delivery. This role will serve as a critical link from 2K publishing to the development team connecting product vision, development execution, shared service delivery, localization, QA, insights/analytics, and release management. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling operational pipelines that support continuous content updates, monetization cadence, technical integration, live service stability, and a high-quality player experience.

 

This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in all facets of game development, including preproduction, early user testing, closed/open betas, world wide launch, live ops, and free-to-play business models. As part of the Operations Leadership Team, you will drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure our live game experience runs with consistency and predictability in an adaptive environment.

What You Will Do

  • Own and manage the publishing side of game operations in collaboration with the game studio. Key areas of focus will include the publisher's connection to — game service(s) health, shared tech services, localization, legal, content update execution, seasonal launches, and in-game events.
  • In collaboration with the studio, define release readiness criteria and own go/no-go processes for patches, updates, and content drops — ensuring cross-functional alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and Insights & Analytics teams to establish process and execution for user testing strategies, live events, store rotations, and promotions.
  • Oversee operational response planning for emergent player-impacting issues, including rollback plans, hotfix workflows, QA review, customer support coordination, comms, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Help develop and manage dashboards and reporting tools to monitor game health, server stability, KPIs, and player sentiment.
  • Partner with Analytics, Engineering, Customer Experience, and Community to maintain a feedback loop that fuels rapid iteration and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with QA, Release Management and platform holders (Sony, Microsoft, Steam, etc.) to manage certification timelines, compliance checks, and technical requirements.
  • Partner with the Director of Business Operations to define the process for planning for seasonal and event-based content — ensuring alignment across marketing, creative, development, and community teams.
  • Lead Live Game Ops reviews to maintain transparency and accountability across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Champion and evolve best practices in the coordination of DevOps, release engineering, localization, and QA pipelines to support live game velocity and scale.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing Game Operations team, setting clear expectations and career development paths.

What Will Make You a Great Fit  

  • 8+ years of experience in internal or external game development or publishing role.
  • 4+ years of experience working on a Live game or service.
  • Experience building and managing relationships with studios, vendors, internal teams, and other external resources.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), time and project management skills.
  • Experience shipping console & PC titles and detailed knowledge of those platform requirements.
  • Ability to assess quality and foresee development challenges at all phases of game development, particularly preproduction to launch.
  • Expected to identify and then take ownership of any responsibilities that lie within the scope of the project and are not currently assigned.
  • Must demonstrate strong fiscal sense, in leading budget and scope expectations both within the team and to executive management.

 

Bonus Points 

  • Experience with large-scale multiplayer or cross-platform games.
  • Familiarity with live game telemetry systems and real-time alerting tools (e.g. Tableau, DataDog, etc).
  • Previous experience with technical operations, server infrastructure, or release engineering.
  • Background in digital content pipeline management, version control, and continuous delivery.
  • Passion for live service games, esports, community engagement, and evolving player experiences.
  • Proven track record of using analytics to drive data informed product decisions.
  • Highly knowledgeable of game industry trends.
  • Loads of fun to work with.


The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $163,400 and $241,820 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program.
