The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of embedded software principles, with proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ (e.g., STM32, ESP32) and experience with real-time embedded systems. The role requires the ability to create electronics schematics, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and develop circuit board designs using tools such as Altium or Eagle.

The Engineer will be responsible for producing detailed project documentation, including requirements and specifications. A significant part of the role involves conducting functional testing of hardware and software, creating methodical test reports, and providing first-line support for production-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project administration for both in-market and new product development projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Assist with hardware and firmware FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Develop validation tests for electronics, firmware, and software.
  • Organize tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Conduct product testing, issue reports, and verify test results.
  • Support the Quality Assurance team in fault-finding for product returns or quality issues.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure smooth transitions from design to manufacture and sales.
  • Assist in providing compliance testing and documentation for products.

Skills:

  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and/or New Product Development (NPD).
  • Proficiency in creating and understanding schematics, specifying components, and troubleshooting electronic manufacturing issues.
  • Ability to devise test specifications and quality plans for electromechanical products.
  • Familiarity with STM32 Cube IDE, RToS, C++, and C.
  • Experience with design tools such as Fusion 360, Eagle, or Altium.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU conformity standards and directives for electrical and electronic products.
  • Proficient in fault-finding at the component level.
  • Strong understanding of PCB layout and schematics.
  • Experience with electronic design, fault-finding, and various testing techniques.
  • Ability to analyze test results, identify failures, and complete tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters).
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently and assertively.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and methodical approach to work.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electronics and Systems Engineer to contribute to innovative product development while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
