Role Summary

The Underwriting Analyst supports the underwriting process by reviewing RFPs, analyzing risk data, and ensuring accurate policy issuance. This role involves managing renewals, maintaining competitive pricing, and collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high volumes of data efficiently are key to success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the renewal spreadsheet for assigned underwriter(s).

  • Review RFPs and underwriting files to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

  • Input employer stop-loss characteristics, including benefits, census data, large claims, and aggregate claim assessments, into the underwriting system.

  • Accurately document case files, prepare applications, and oversee issuance processes.

  • Participate in Captive renewal calls and biweekly underwriting meetings.

  • Prepare and distribute renewal notification letters.

  • Maintain quote qualifications while ensuring competitive pricing.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications 

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree required

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in an underwriting analyst or associate role.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Stop-loss insurance.

  • Strong mathematical background with the ability to assess complex data.

  • Experience with Underwriting platforms preferred.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.

  • Ability to handle high work volumes accurately and efficiently with minimal errors.

  • Proven ability to develop, manage, and underwrite a profitable book of business.

  • Effective communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Independent worker who thrives in a collaborative team environment.

  • Creativity and problem-solving skills are a plus.
