Job Description
The Job Costing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Solar Interconnection Department by ensuring accurate commission calculations, protecting profitability, and maintaining integrity in project cost assessments. This position is responsible for processing and validating commissions, auditing project complexities, and collaborating across departments to maintain financial accuracy throughout the solar installation lifecycle.


Responsibilities      

    Commission Processing & Validation
  • Calculate and process commissions for residential solar projects.

  • Verify job adders and ensure they are accurately reflected in final payouts.

  • Cross-check cost data and dealer submissions across CRM platforms, accounting systems, spreadsheets, and installer reports.

  • Confirm that the contracted project scope aligns with actual installation details.

Adder Review & Profitability Protection
  • Identify necessary cost adders (e.g., main panel upgrades, trenching, battery storage, roofing).

  • Audit submissions to detect missing or inaccurate adders that may distort commission values.

  • Flag projects that pose risks of profit erosion due to underreported complexities or incorrect scope classifications.

System Monitoring & Workflow Management
  • Maintain and update internal tracking systems to reconcile data across multiple platforms.

  • Coordinate with internal teams (project managers, designers, permitting, installers) to validate pricing and field data.

  • Support documentation and continuous improvement initiatives related to commission processing workflows.

Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure calculations align with company margin policies, contractual terms, and dealer agreements.

  • Produce regular reports on commission trends, outliers, and high-cost projects for leadership review.

  • Assist with financial audits by compiling relevant documentation and cost breakdowns


Requirements
  • College educated
  • Candidates must provide either an NBI Clearance or Police Clearance (preferred) upon hiring
  • Must be comfortable with using Hubstaff, a time-tracking application
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data entry and review.
  • Proven experience in sales and marketing administration, with a focus on proposal coordination and bid registrations.
  • Ability to navigate multiple software platforms in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Prior experience in solar energy, construction, or related fields if preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, Hubspot experience is a must
  • Strong organizational skills for managing administrative tasks
  • Professional-level English (written and verbal/voice)
  • Computer or laptop with access to the internet (minimum speed of 25 Mbps)
