Mainframe and COBOL Developer

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Mainframe & COBOL Developer with over 8 years of experience in developing, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise-level IBM Mainframe applications. The candidate should have deep expertise in MF Batch Processing, COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS and be capable of analyzing complex business requirements, designing scalable solutions, and ensuring high system performance and reliability.
The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based applications on IBM Mainframe (z/OS).

  • Write, modify, and optimize JCL scripts for batch processing.

  • Work extensively with DB2, IMS, and VSAM for data storage and retrieval.

  • Develop and maintain CICS transaction processing applications.

  • Perform code reviews, performance tuning, and system optimizations.

  • Develop and implement mainframe modernization strategies, including integration with distributed systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, system architects, and QA teams, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Provide production support, including incident management, root cause analysis, and bug fixes.

  • Lead and mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and company policies.
