Job description

UBC are looking for a 2 x Sr Medical Writers, Clinical and Non Clinical for a 12 month fixed term contract.


Brief Overview:


Move business-critical scientific data from Study Report to strategic publication assets and enhanced content on Tobacco Harm Reduction, including product design, aerosol chemistry, toxicology, clinical, real-world evidence, consumer perception and behavior, and post market studies. 

Accountabilities:

  • Translating complex scientific information into impactful, engaging, and educational messaging tailored to diverse audiences 
  • Perform literature-based scientific research, with the ability to efficiently interpret scientific data and draw conclusions about the landscape relevant to project objectives
  • Write, edit, and format scientific content (abstracts, posters, presentations, manuscripts, publication extenders, study summaries, plain language summaries, and internal documents) 
  • Review assets as needed 
  • Work alongside the publication team, strategic partners, and external writers to share expertise
  • Coordinate and manage multiple writing projects concurrently, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Stay up to date on relevant science by reading and reviewing publications, attending courses, and through membership in industry/professional associations

Skills and competencies: 

  • Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Chemistry, Life Science, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in scientific and medical editing/writing 
  • Broad scientific knowledge and demonstrated experience in scientific writing and publication management 
  • Familiarity with publication guidelines, data reporting, and standards relevant to medical writing
  • Exceptional command of English, both written and spoken • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills • Strong understanding and interpretation of clinical and preclinical data (toxicology and analytical chemistry)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint), EndNote, and Veeva
  • Experience with graphic design (figures) is a must 
  • Experience with nicotine products is highly desirable
