Job Description

What it’s like to be a Scrum Master at STX Next:

As a Scrum Master at STX Next, you play a key role in fostering the team’s understanding and adoption of Scrum values and principles. Your focus is on building a self-managing, collaborative team that delivers high-value increments aligned with the Definition of Done. You’ll guide Scrum events, ensuring they are productive and well-paced to support team reflection and progress.

You work closely with the Product Owner to clarify the Product Goal and maintain a transparent backlog. In this role, you also act as a bridge between the Scrum Team and stakeholders, promoting a shared vision and effective communication.

Beyond the team, your influence supports Agile transformation throughout the organization. By leading and coaching in Agile practices, you foster an empirical approach to complex projects, helping STX Next embrace a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily Scrum meetings and Sprint Planning.
  • Guide the team in breaking down User Stories and creating a Product Backlog.
  • Ensure clarity on the Product Owner’s. role and prioritization in the Sprint Backlog.
  • Help with estimations and remove obstacles impacting progress.
  • Promote self-organization and clear communication within the team.
  • Assist in defining and refining the Definition of Done.
  • Monitor progress toward Sprint goals and lead retrospectives.
  • Facilitate Sprint Reviews with stakeholders.
  • Encourage collaboration and feedback among team members.
  • Support adherence to Scrum principles and the team’s task boards.
  • Coach the team on Agile/Scrum and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as an advocate for the team’s needs and resolve conflicts.
  • Foster transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and training sessions.
  • Manage technical debt and guide on quality issues.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters to handle cross-team dependencies.
  • Support Agile adoption and organizational transformation.
  • Work with Product Owners on backlog refinement and release planning.
  • Build a healthy team environment and promote risk management.
  • Drive process improvements and Scrum health assessments.
  • Maintain alignment with stakeholders and ensure continuous Agile learning.

Requirements

Must have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, with a proven track record of implementing Agile methodologies across various teams and environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum, demonstrated by Scrum.org certifications (e.g., PSM II).
  • Proficiency in other Agile and Lean practices (e.g., XP, Dual track, Kanban).
  • C1 level fluency in English.
  • Focus on continuous improvement, both at the team and individual levels.
  • Ability to design and deliver custom training sessions to support Agile adoption.
  • Strong client relationship skills, with a focus on fostering trust and delivering tangible business value.
  • Servant leadership qualities, with a strong emphasis on communication and conflict resolution.
  • Flexibility to step into a Product Owner role if necessary.

Nice To Have

  • Technical background with an understanding of architectural concepts and trade-offs.
  • Experience in Product Owner roles.
  • Familiarity with working alongside Product Designers and DevOps teams.
  • Knowledge of project management frameworks such as Lean, PMP, Prince2, or Waterfall.
  • Atlassian Jira Administration skills.
  • Experience in working within enterprise environments.
