ROLE SUMMARY:

Pfizer R&D is responsible for the clinical development and advancement of Pfizer’s pipeline of innovative medicines, vaccines and treatments. These breakthroughs would not be possible without the thousands of investigator sites, research networks and patients who participate in our clinical trials each year.

We aim to lead the industry by having the most patient centric clinical trials, building on our trusted relationships with our investigator sites and significantly reducing recruitment cycle times. To meet these ambitious goals, we have established a Strategic Site Partnerships organization that is focused on establishing business to business partnerships with leading research/healthcare institutions and developing comprehensive enrollment strategies for studies and therapeutic areas.

The Head of Strategic Site Partnerships is a critical leader, overseeing a team of TA and Regional Strategic Site Partnership Leads that will be accountable for identifying, building and nurturing relationships with research, networks and healthcare institutions that enroll a significant portion of our clinical trials.

The Head of Strategic Site Partnerships will partner closely with leaders across R&D and Medical to ensure full alignment and accountability for the overall partnership strategies, and associated recruitment strategies, that will be executed through site facing teams. Designing, scaling, and leading a new strategic partnership model across therapeutic areas that supports strategic sites partnerships and site experience.

The Head of Strategic Site Partnerships is accountable for establishing relationships with key internal stakeholders to understand the R&D business needs and partner to develop site strategies globally that meet the needs of the indications and therapy areas Pfizer progresses.  

You will be accountable for implementing these strategic plans and establishing relationships with key sites and partnerships globally, including working with newly identified potentially high performing, high volume sites across therapeutic areas and work with leaders at those institutions to ensure that the sites are set up for success. The role will involve guiding this team with these entities. Your leadership will be pivotal in maintaining Pfizer’s commitment to excellence and compliance throughout Pfizer’s work with Site Organizations and through the lifespan of critical partnerships.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leading a global organization of Strategic Site Partnership Leads the Head of Strategic Site Partnerships is accountable for designing, scaling and leading a new Strategic partnership model across therapeutic areas that supports oversight and knowledge of site organizations and strategic sites partnerships.  Key deliverables include:

  • Working in partnership with Category leadership and CD&O Leaders to set goals and strategies to establish strategic site partnerships for each therapeutic area
  • Develop and implement a strategic enterprise roadmap to steadily increase partnership sites so that they are fully scaled across the portfolio
  • Lead the transformation to an efficient strategic site partnership model in concert with key partners across Clinical Development & Operations, including establishing an operating and relationship model, and value proposition for sites
  • Implement a customer relationship management approach and scorecard for strategic partners for continuous improvement
    • Drives the review of available metrics and interpretation of signals at portfolio, study, and site levels within the team
    • Drives standardization in processes and related continuous improvement
    • The ability to work cross-functionally is critical to build consistency in standard processes
  • The ability to identify trends and mitigate issues in oversight is necessary to further improve processes and oversight Responsible for the delivery process that develops mutual performance objectives, overall financial targets and transactions, and critical milestones
  • Drive a culture where clinical trial sites view Pfizer as their partner of choice
  • Focus on engaging with leaders and investigators at partnership sites to set targets and customized enrolment strategies, establish needed resources and infrastructure and agreements
  • Partner with Regional Heads of Site Operations and Study Teams to ensure sites are seamlessly integrated into overall study execution plans
  • Empowers the Regional/TA Strategic Site Partnership leaders with the vision, mission and goals for the group and drives accountability for deliverables
  • Driving relationship globally with Country Medical Directors in collaboration with Regional Site Operations Heads – leveraging government opportunities/growth
  • Build a reputation for excellent service; develop efficient and effective strategies to respond to key site partnership concerns and work closely with colleagues to ensure high customer satisfaction ratings and prompt problem resolution and issue mitigation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates for this job may hold a BS/BSc/MS/MSc and or equivalent experience in industry.
  • Therapeutic Area and Operational expertise knowledge to allow for meaningful HCP discussions.
  • 12 + years broad based experience of drug development, clinical trial conduct, global clinical trial operations, working knowledge of GCP and a thorough understanding of Pfizer processes and standards, with a growth that has been towards senior leadership positions.
  • Must be fluent in English. Local language capabilities are an advantage in this role.
  • Demonstrated strong executive relationship building and influence and experience working with the C-suite within the healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of managing business to business relationships with healthcare systems and establishing, negotiating and managing complex strategic contracts required.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated result orientation, tenacity, and follow- through.
  • Ability to systematically evaluate and prioritize multiple business opportunities within a TA and has strong business acumen.
  • The ability to be successful in a matrixed environment with a high degree of flexibility; collaborate well across functions  and specifically Country and Site Operations. High degree of influencing skills.
  • Must have a proven track record of being effective at self-management and driving results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer and business partner relationships.
  • Ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity and proven ability to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Data-driven leader with experience leveraging metrics, KPI’s, and analytics to create accountability structures that drive success of the organization.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $242,000.00 to $403,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
