Experienced Ad Sales Account Executive Wanted for Outdoor-Enthusiast Vertical at Growing Media Company!

Compensation range: $80,000 to $100,000 per year base, plus uncapped commission

As Ad Sales Account Executive for this outdoorsy fishing vertical, you'll start with an existing client base, giving you immediate opportunities to grow and expand accounts right from the start. You’ll get to attend top outdoor events like the Bassmaster Classic, ICAST, and other industry trade shows, which provide a chance to network and build key relationships. The company has a strong presence and reputation in the fishing and outdoor industry, and there's ample room for growth. Not to mention, you’ll have lots of creative freedom and the opportunity to pitch and build custom ad packages. Plus, this publishing company has other sellers in adjacent domains also selling ads in CPG based on passion from extremely connected audiences. So, you’ll also have the opportunity to cross-sell other brands—this includes their digital and print magazines, websites, newsletters, social media platforms, native content, event sponsorships, and any new initiatives or partnerships across the media platform.


What's it going to take to score an interview?


  • You have 3+ years of ad sales experience as a digital ad seller in the outdoor / fishing category: You must have experience at a top-tier publisher selling advertising within the outdoors space.
  • You’re a strong relationship builder with tenacity, grit, and entrepreneurial enthusiasm: You’re someone who thrives on relationship-based selling and custom packages. It’s great if you have a Rolodex full of CPG clients in the outdoors space and are constantly growing your list of contacts. You’re a team player who also loves working autonomously and has strong hunter instincts.
  • You have excellent strategic selling skills: You know how to survey the market and analyze its needs, then pivot to generate more revenue and sign new accounts. Your creative sales approach goes far beyond standard ads to include partnerships, influencer campaigns, YouTube how-tos/gear guides, and more, and you’re excited to bring innovation from other industries to this company.
  • You enjoy having a lot of agency, ownership, and accountability: You’re highly entrepreneurial and raring to come in, make this role your own, build out new business, and access limitless growth opportunities. The sky is the limit here.
