The Role:
LOVB is seeking a
Vice President, LOVB Inc Corporate Controller to lead all elements of full cycle accounting (revenue, general ledger, cost accounting, property & leasing, inventory), accounting operations & transaction shared services (payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable), financial reporting, tax, compliance, treasury, internal audit, and internal controls in a high-growth, mission-driven organization. Reporting to the CFO, this role will be responsible for ensuring
accurate financial reporting, compliance, and scalable accounting processes that support the broader LOVB community, including
Clubs, Central Support, LOVB Inc / Holdco, and the Professional League. The Corporate Controller will work in close collaboration with
finance functional leads across each vertical to ensure financial integrity and alignment across all business units.
LOVB is still a young company. The
Vice President, LOVB Inc Corporate Controller role is very much a doer’s role, not just a supervisor’s role. LOVB needs someone who rolls up their sleeves, dives in, and does the work - whether that’s booking entries, ripping apart a process to understand it and make it work better, or going deep to solve a problem.
The ideal candidate is a
proactive, detail-oriented finance leader with a strong technical accounting background, experience in start-ups & fast-paced environments, the ability to implement best-in-class financial controls, and a strong track record as a people leader and team builder.
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and reporting to the CFO, Board, and investors.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, including audits, filings, and financial disclosures.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls and policies to safeguard financial integrity.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax advisors.
- Collaborate with finance functional leads across Clubs, Central Support, and Pro to ensure consolidated reporting accuracy.
Accounting Operations & Process Optimization:
- Direct the general ledger, revenue accounting, property & leasing accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury functions.
- Establish and optimize scalable financial systems and processes that support the organization’s growth.
- Ensure proper revenue recognition across multiple business models, including Clubs, Pro, and e-commerce.
- Direct external and internal resources to assure the company is fully compliant across federal and state income taxes, as well as state and municipal sales & use taxes.
- Drive automation and technology adoption to improve efficiency, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
- Oversee and enhance the organization’s NetSuite ERP system, ensuring it effectively supports accounting and financial operations.
Strategic Finance & Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Support the CFO in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions and strategic growth initiatives.
- Partner with IT and operations to implement NetSuite enhancements and financial process improvements.
- Ensure financial discipline while enabling the organization’s rapid expansion and innovation.
- Work in close partnership with finance functional leads for Clubs, Central Support, and Pro to maintain alignment and support business needs.
- Work in close partnership with finance leadership team to manage & forecast company’s cash, manage external banking relationships, and optimize treasury management.
- Partner with internal and external technology resources to strengthen technology and data infrastructure, with an emphasis on process improvements and shortening the monthly close process.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial leadership, with at least 5 years in a Controller or senior finance role.
- CPA required; Big 4 or public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and tax compliance.
- Experience with multi-entity or complex business models (e.g., sports, retail, media, e-commerce, or franchise operations).
- Strong leadership and team management skills; ability to develop and mentor accounting staff.
- Proficiency in NetSuite ERP is required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization with an entrepreneurial mindset. Start-up experience strongly preferred

Flexibility to work anywhere in the US with willingness to travel for regular off-sites and other business-related destinations.

The annual base salary for this role is $180,000-230,000 plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
