In today’s competitive deal market, Private Equity is increasingly turning to operational enhancements as a driver for value creation in their investment portfolio. It is essential for Private Equity funds to have a portfolio support team, either internally or externally, to guide CFOs as they build a scalable accounting and finance function that supports the investment thesis. We are experienced operators, who serve as an extension of leading Private Equity sponsors to drive meaningful and sustainable operational changes across their portfolios.
Responsibilities Serve clients within the “Office of the CFO” of private equity portfolio companies to create a diagnostic framework and improve finance function effectivenessAssist in client finance and/or accounting functions to include: accounting and operational process improvements, consolidation and reporting, financial reporting preparation, board and management reporting, and system strategy/selection (if needed)Assist with implementation of a financial management capability, including multi-year financial modeling and annual target-setting processes and translating strategic targets into annual and monthly operating/capital budgets and forecastsAssist with financial management report preparation, comparing current actual and year-to-date performance with prior year, forecast and budgeted resultsAssess current state and building or modifying analytical resources, tools, models, metrics and methodologies to enhance decision-making support, including: Developing tools for budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning Understanding key business drivers and performing predictive analysisBuild models to calculate and analyze financial covenants and operating requirements contained in debt agreements, including monitoring and modeling activities related to debt agreement mattersReview and assist with all treasury activities including banking, investment, derivative management, debt repayment and liquidity management, including building 13-week cash flow forecastsAdvocate on behalf of clients and represent clients' needs as appropriate to leadership Work/liaise cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changesDevelop and maintain relationships at portfolio company as well as representatives from Private Equity sponsors and work with CrossCountry team members to scope, clarify, and deliver superior client serviceParticipate on proposal teams in securing new client workPerforms as a role model, supervisor, coach, and mentor to Senior Consultants and Consultants both on projects and within coaching families. This includes being a champion for the firm in our community, within the market, with recruits, and with employees to attract and retain our peopleParticipate in advancing the firm through committees and internal initiatives such as recruiting, business development, marketing, and knowledge sharingWillingness to travel up to 40%
Ideal Skills and Qualifications 5+ years of experience working in a client facing role at a top-tier public accounting firm and/or consulting firm preferably in a financial planning and analysis capacity (This background is a critical differentiator among interested candidates)Experience working with Private Equity, with an understanding of the unique requirements of the Private Equity consulting environment Strong analytical and modeling skills with significant experience as it pertains to owning and executing complex financial models for analysis and forecasting, with ability to summarize key data into executive dashboardsHands-on experience building and managing informative professional reports and template structures for various business units in a high growth environmentExtremely precise and detail-orientedAdvanced expertise of Microsoft Excel (e.g., macros, pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPointKnowledge of data analytics and related tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, SQL) a plusProven track record as an influential change agent, championing, organizing and successfully and efficiently executing new ideas and initiativesConfident and self-aware, with the ability to use appropriate communication style for various levels across the organizationAbility to converse with Controller group and accounting team, including fluent knowledge of the main elements and drivers of income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flowMentorship and people development capabilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skills including comfort with executive audiencesCritical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems Desired CertificationsCPA, CA, CFAEducation Required - BS, BA Desired - MBA, MA, MFA, MSA
