Job Description:
A local branch in Tampa, Florida is looking for an experienced Loan Officer Assistant to join the team. This is NOT for someone who is new to the mortgage business or looking to learn the industry. Specifically, this person will support one of the top 15 Loan Officers, who is in one of the top 15 branches of the company. This is not replacing anyone on our team; it’s adding to our existing team to increase our production. Ideally, this is a remote-work situation with a dedicated work space, local to Florida, but we are open to other locations. The Loan Officer Assistant is responsible for assisting the respective sales team with generating new and repeat business. This position is a vital part to the sales team to help ensure a smooth home buying process for our customers and assisting the Sales Team with the overall loan process. Most of our business is purchase and referral/repeat, including majority agency loans, non-QM and down payment assistance loans, mostly in FL but we do originate nationwide. There could be some night/weekend work/calls/emails with this position.
What you'll do:
- Assist Loan Officer(s) in pre-approval scenarios that will include everything from customer conversations, and especially helping set up and run loan scenarios through our loan system (currently Encompass) and DU/LP underwriting systems, including collecting, organizing, reviewing and pre-underwriting client documents (credit, income, assets, etc). A good understanding of underwriting guidelines is strongly preferred. Ability to complete basic and complex income calculations is preferred.
- Communicate with clients, Realtors and other vendors (title, insurance) as needed with excellence, across all mediums (phone, email, text, social media, in person at times). Outstanding customer service skills are important along with courtesy and manners.
- Assist buyer through closing by answering questions, concerns and providing customer service to all parties in the transaction
- Run cash to close and payment scenarios
- Review and send lock pricing to Loan Officers
- Advise buyers of any additional, updated or missing documents needed to proceed
- Prepare the loan for the different stages of the loan process including setup, processing, underwriting, closing and post-closing.
- Order appraisals, FHA Case numbers verifications and assist with other processing duties as needed.
- Develop rapport and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external clients
- Collaborate with Loan Officers and all management teams to deliver a financial product that best suits the client’s financial profile
- Other duties or special projects as assigned
Who you are:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 or more years of experience in the mortgage industry
- Good with technology and a working knowledge of Encompass
- Sales experience is preferred, but not required
- Must be self-starter and efficient with time and tasks
- Passing of the NMLS exam (highly preferred)
- Complete all necessary documentation to complete the licensing process preferred
- Excellent communication skills including phone, personal contact and written (able to type)
- Ability to problem solve and exercise a high degree of initiative
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented atmosphere
- Reliability and a consistent positive attitude
- Must possess good judgment, be able to accept responsibility and handle confidential information

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.63 - $26.44 Hourly plus bonus
