About the role

The Associate Medical Director (“AMD”) will assist senior scientific staff in providing scientific support for assigned client projects. The AMD will be responsible for creation and oversight of scientific content on specific projects.  With supervision of senior medical staff, the AMD will develop content that is scientifically accurate and strategically sound, meet with the client and work with faculty. You will report to the Senior Medical Director or Director, Scientific Services

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Work within an account consisting of medical affairs, medical congresses, and publications
  • Quickly learn multiple new therapy areas and build therapeutic area expertise
  • Proactively lead and contribute to content development plans and strategy
  • Partner with pharmaceutical industry clients on strategic goals and objectives of scientific communications programs, ensuring delivery of the highest quality product
  •  
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned medical communications deliverables are scientifically accurate, clinically relevant, created for the correct use case and audience, and reflect most recent advances in the medical field
  • Effectively analyze, interpret, visualize, and express scientific data in a creative, cogent, and accurate manner across multiple channels and for various audiences, according to client requirements for assigned projects
  • Create copy decks for medical tactics, eg, pipeline summaries, scientific platforms, lexicons, medical training decks, infographics, animation scripts, reports, FAQs, etc.
  • Design, attend, and run advisory boards and clinical trial investigator meetings
  • Review medical deliverables to verify scientific accuracy and provide strategic quality control for medical writers
  • Support budgeting and efficient financial management of projects
  • Contribute to new business development and provide scientific insight to support business wins

 

About you:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the role of medical affairs and related client functions in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, clinical data visualization, and biostatistics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong medical communications writing experience, including medical affairs and regulatory submissions
  • Strong client communication skills; ability to speak, work, and collaborate with pharmaceutical clients, healthcare practitioners, and key opinion leaders
  • Strong scientific acumen across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Experience leading projects or teams and passionate about mentorship of junior staff; experience reviewing the work of others
  • Maintain knowledge of developments and trends in the pharmaceutical industry and medical/clinical research space
  • Able to represent us in a professional manner through appropriate demeanor
  • Advanced computer skills, including efficient literature searches and Microsoft Windows software, including Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and PowerPoint
  • Willing to travel as needed, eg, up to 4 times per year

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations.
