Description

Foster Parent Training Manager

Compensation: : $56,000-$63,000

Required: Must reside in the state of Ohio. 

The Foster Parent Training Manager works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children, youth and families served. This position is responsible for foster parent growth and statewide by ensuring that the organization’s foster parents are provided with training and development in alignment with trauma informed practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Actively supports, represents, and extends the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Maintains active knowledge of and serves as a resource for state specific rules/regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies related to foster care with a proficiency in foster parent training requirements.
  • Develops and maintains an assessment system which evaluates the current training and development needs for all foster parents.
  • Develops, maintains, and communicates a statewide monthly and annual schedule of pre-service and ongoing training which is representative of required training and promotes diverse skill development to meet the ever-changing needs of children and youth referred to the organization.
  • Coordinate, oversee and maintain as current the Ohio Foster Parent Online Training Calendar.
  • Both coordinates the provision of training and serves as a trainer for pre-service and ongoing training conducted in person and virtually.
  • Onboarding, training, supervision and coaching of foster parent trainers/contractors to ensure trainer competence is well demonstrated and that their work is representative of NYAP quality standards.

  • Assures that the training is available at diverse times and that topics have relevancy and impact to the issues facing youth entering placement.
  • Ensures that training attendance is accounted for, credit recorded and awarded for statewide sponsored training.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in foster parent training entry in SACWIS and supports regional needs related to SACWIS use.
  • Monitors foster parent training reimbursement per agency budget and problem solves any shortfalls.
  • Supports individual training needs of foster caregivers by assisting regional/program staff as they ensure all caregivers achieve the required training hours by their certification/approval date.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of federal and state trends and initiatives related to foster care and integrates these perspectives into foster parent development resources.
  • Develops and implements trauma informed care centered training curriculum specific to the needs of traditional, specialized, and therapeutic foster parents.
  • Lead licensing teams in developing potential and existing foster parents to understand the unique needs of youth entering foster care, the expectation of mentoring primary families and the goal of reunification of youth with the primary family.
  • Collaborates with organization and state leadership to implement/support foster care model trainings.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Foster Caregiver Training Plan and ensures completion/approval of Applications for Ongoing Training included in this plan.
  • Facilitate monthly Ohio Foster Parent Education Committee meetings.
  • Participate in monthly NYAP Foster Parent Education Committee meetings.
  • Serves as the contact person for foster parent training related questions or inquires.
  • Manage NYAP Ohio Foster Parent Facebook Page (private group), specifically for foster parent training content.
  • Maintains all necessary documentation required by the National Youth Advocate Program.
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports detailing progress on foster parent training and development as it impacts census to targets.
  • Actively participates in the supervision process as scheduled.
  • Works in partnership with regional leadership and licensing staff and collaborates with national employees.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, master’s degree in social work preferred.
  • Credentialed as a Tier II Ohio Assessor.
  • Must reside in the state of Ohio.
  • Five years of experience working directly in foster care.
  • Skilled and proficient in public speaking.
  • Willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours to support resource parent training needs.
  • Ability to teach trauma based and other specialty modality approaches adopted by the organization.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs including Zoom and SACWIS.
