The Associate Creative Director – Copy (ACD) is responsible for overseeing the copywriting and art direction of print, digital and video direct response marketing materials, direct mail, advertising, and other collateral/branding efforts that conform to specific production and client branding guidelines. They will incorporate detailed strategic instructions from the Creative Director (CD). 

The ACD is assigned to lead specified creative teams, each team comprised to meet the unique needs of different clients. The ACD directs and inspires the copywriters and art directors on their creative teams to produce a quality creative product that is on strategy and consistent with the Client Service teams’ expectations and the industry best practices as defined by RKD Group. They are responsible for the efficiency, productivity, and profitability of their creative teams.

They work in partnership with the Client Service team leaders in defining assignments, drafting strategies, and developing creative briefs. The successful candidate will most likely be able to demonstrate a successful career in creative writing showing progression and significant achievements over an 8-10 year period to include time spent in the fundraising space. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working closely with the CD to support the development of donor-centric, insight-driven, integrated creative solutions. 
  • As needed, collaborating with client’s additional support agencies to combine brand-building, and fundraising best practices to produce results-oriented creative solutions that build and foster stronger relationships between clients and their prospects and supporters.
  • Assisting Client Service in the positioning and promotion of concepts, strategies, executions and other related elements of multi-channel, direct response materials.
  • Providing creative team member oversight and professional development equally for both design and copy disciplines. Effectively mentoring and growing individuals at varying levels of experience in the art and science of direct response fundraising. 
  • Traveling as requested for creative presentations, client relationship-building, staff development.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate degree in Advertising, Fine Arts, or related fields.
  • PC or Mac proficient.
  • 5 years minimum experience in multi-channel direct response fundraising for nonprofits preferred.
  • 5 years minimum experience working on accounts for national brands (for-profit, non-profit, or both) preferred.
  • Experience in concept development and campaign development.
  • Experience in creative development for both traditional and digital media.
  • Branding and brand building strategy experience.
  • Proven success supervising staff.  
  • Knowledgeable of best practices in direct response fundraising writing for direct mail, digital media, DRTV, brand strategy, and creative strategy.  
  • Highly proficient computer skills. 
  • Portfolio of creative examples that demonstrate excellent craft and innovative concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to assist in the development of new business pitch materials. 
  • Ability to work, manage and collaborate effectively either remotely or in-office.
  • Strong leadership skills; highly motivated and takes initiative.
  • Enjoy challenging and fast paced work environment.
  • Demonstrates high work ethic and professionalism with a team player approach. 
  • Displays high levels of integrity and attention to detail.
  • The ability to assists in the development of new business pitch materials. 
  • The ability to work as effectively remotely.

LOCATION: Remote. Must be able to work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM U.S. Central Time Zone.

Pay range expected for this position is $90,000 - $110,000

(The position level and compensation for this role will be determined based on the market location, experience, job skills, and qualifications of the candidate)
