Job description

The Organization
CDO Magazine is the premier global digital publication and community serving executives in strategic data, analytics, and AI leadership roles. Our passion is to develop and serve communities that are “for data leaders, by data leaders.” We bring together data leaders for peer-to-peer support which fosters the success and innovation of the organizations they lead. Together with their peers and carefully selected sponsors, we provide content and events for data leaders where the best ideas, innovations, companies, and leaders are celebrated. We have CDO forums in cities, countries, and regions around the world, and we are rapidly expanding those communities to serve data leaders in more and bigger ways.

About the Role
The Program Director plays a vital role in building and nurturing these volunteer driven communities of senior data leaders. The Program Director is responsible for fostering connections, driving event success, and contributing to the overall development and growth of these communities. The program Director will build direct personal relationships with local executives in their assigned cities, coordinate the executive’s contributions to the community, and facilitate peer-to-peer event programs that connect top executives from leading organizations to share insights, develop strategies, and grow both professionally and organizationally.

Please note that we have a range of titles connected to this role in the Assistant Manager, Manager, Assistant Director, and Director titles with the final title based on level of experience.

Responsibilities
Community Building & Relationship Management:

  • Maintain the database of information on the data leaders in your assigned cities, capturing information which guides our community building to serve community needs and ensures our data is up to date and accurate.
  • Foster active participation in the CDO Magazine community and our events, encouraging executives to speak and attend our events, contribute to discussions, share insights, and nominate sponsor partners.
  • Leverage relationships to drive expansion of the community, boost attendance at our events, and provide timely nominations of sponsor partners.
  • Collaborate with the CDO Magazine team across a range of centralized roles and responsibilities.

Program Execution:

  • Own the end-to-end execution of community-focused events, ensuring alignment with attendee, sponsor, and company objectives while delivering measurable impacts. Close collaboration with CDO Magazine sales, logistics, and other teams to meet all attendee, sponsor, and company goals.
  • Coordinate with all internal teams to ensure successful planning and execution of in-person events, aligning them with attendee, sponsor, and company goals.
  • Work closely with the sales team to meet revenue and margin goals, with a particular focus on driving community members to nominate their top vendors to sponsor our events.
  • Partner with content teams to develop peer-driven agendas that resonate with the target audience.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure event details align with community needs and standards.

Event Hosting & Facilitation:

  • Serve as the host or MC at events, which includes greeting attendees, minor public speaking (welcoming, etc) in front of live audiences.
  • Monitor and evaluate event performance, problem solving on site and gathering feedback to inform future improvements.

Performance Metrics:
