The Inuit Art Foundation is an Inuit-led charity providing support to Inuit artists working throughout Inuit Nunaat and beyond. As the sole national organization promoting Inuit art within Canada and internationally, we advocate for Inuit artists to be involved in all aspects of the marketing, promotion, and distribution of their work, as well as fair pricing, and copyright remuneration.

About the Position:

The Marketing and Communications Manager has a pivotal role within the Inuit Art Foundation (IAF), responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of marketing and communication strategies. This position is integral to expanding the brand and influence of IAF. Working closely with programming teams, the Marketing and Communications Manager will help promote its programs and initiatives, thereby enhancing its artistic impact, audience reach, and financial sustainability.

What You Will Be Doing:

Marketing and Media Relations

  • Create, implement, and maintain annual marketing plans and work back schedules to promote the IAF’s activities, including promoting the Inuit Art Quarterly, award and scholarship programs, and public-facing programming
  • Manage all print and digital advertising campaigns
  • Manage production and distribution of all print and digital marketing assets
  • Draft all news releases, talking points for media contacts, and reference materials, as needed
  • Oversee all media relations and publicity activities, press events, and public-facing initiatives, working to engage external media in all formats
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external media, and negotiate and steward media partnerships as applicable

Sales and Audience Engagement

  • Play an integral role in the IAF’s sales, revenue development, and audience retention strategies by creating and developing annual communications plans, ensuring brand and language consistency
  • Create and manage email lists and segmentations to optimize communications while complying with relevant privacy legislation
  • Create pages and maintain the IAF’s website related to the organization’s strategic initiatives
  • Manage the IAF’s newsletter production cycles and act as handling editor for marketing-specific communications, such as subscription renewals, issue release notifications, and significant announcements
  • Manage the IAF’s Social Media Coordinator, ensuring the IAF’s social media feeds are best optimized for community engagement and promotion
  • In collaboration with the administration and programming teams, promote IAF programs and products like artist funding opportunities, public artist talks, IAQ subscriptions, back issues, and licenses.

Support for Inuit Art Foundation

  • Assist with creating a culture of gratitude and philanthropy by participating in donor thank-you calls and related outreach
  • Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
  • Maintaining the IAF’s CRM database
  • Attending both internal and external events, which may involve travel
  • Assisting with light cleaning and maintenance work

What You Will Need:

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years experience working in a similar role, working in a similar role within an Indigenous organization or community would be an asset

Northern Living Allowance:

In order to continue to attract and retain employees from the Territories, and more importantly Inuit employees, the IAF has introduced a Northern Living Allowance. This amount will be added to an employee’s salary annually as a percentage of their income. For a single person you could be compensated between $2000 - $8000 depending on location and $3500 - $14500 for a family depending on location. Locations include Nunatsiavut, Nunavik, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon.

Status: Permanent, Full-time

Salary range: $56,500 - $84,500 plus benefits
