Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Policy/Legislative Specialist to support cybersecurity policy development and legislative initiatives for a high-profile government IT security office. This part-time, remote position requires a dynamic professional with a strong background in public policy and cybersecurity, capable of translating complex legislative and technical information into clear, executive-level briefing materials. Applicants must be eligible for Public Trust clearance.
Key Responsibilities
• Policy & Legislative Analysis:
– Research and analyze current and emerging IT security policies, legislative developments, and regulatory requirements.
– Monitor changes in cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices, and assess their impact on government operations.
• Document Development:
– Develop, review, and update policy documents, executive summaries, and briefing materials tailored for senior leadership.
– Collaborate with technical teams and policy stakeholders to ensure alignment between operational needs and regulatory requirements.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
– Provide expert recommendations on policy matters and legislative initiatives to inform decision-making.
– Present clear and concise policy briefs in virtual meetings and through written communications.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in developing executive-level briefing materials and working with technical policy, legislation, or standards; with a minimum of 5 years specifically focused on cybersecurity-related information (governance, risk, and compliance).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for clarity and detail.
• Must be eligible for Public Trust clearance.
