Director of Consulting at Collectiv

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Consulting to lead our high-performing Consulting department at Collectiv. As a key member of our leadership team, you will oversee Consulting Team Leads, ensuring effective management, strategic alignment, and continuous development of our consulting teams. Your role will be instrumental in driving operational excellence, enhancing client satisfaction, and fostering innovation across our consulting practice.

In this position, you will be responsible for strategic leadership in LMA (Leading, Managing, Advising), optimizing utilization and revenue forecasting, leveraging advanced consulting technologies, ensuring adherence to best practices, and providing industry-leading technical thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Consulting Team Leadership & Development:

• Strategic Oversight: Lead and mentor Consulting Team Leads, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Operational AI Optimization and Automation: Ideate, develop and deploy AI across departmental functions to enable the consulting department to rapidly grow as a human centered AI enabled company.

• Performance Optimization: Set clear performance expectations and regularly review team progress against targets, ensuring high levels of consultant engagement and productivity.

• Leadership Development: Invest in the growth of future leaders by identifying potential within your teams and providing opportunities for professional development and advancement.

2. Utilization & Revenue Management:

• Utilization Mastery: Monitor and drive team utilization rates, striving to exceed industry benchmarks and align with company goals.

• Revenue Forecasting: Develop and execute accurate revenue forecasts, integrating insights from market trends, project pipelines, and client needs to support strategic business planning.

3. Consulting Technology & Process Optimization:

• Process Excellence: Champion the use of leading-edge consulting technologies, including Power BI and Azure Data Stack, to streamline operations and deliver superior client outcomes.

• Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to refine and enhance consulting processes, ensuring that our methodologies remain at the forefront of industry standards.

4. Technical Thought Leadership:

• Innovation Leadership: Spearhead the adoption of new technologies and methodologies within the consulting practice, positioning Collectiv as a thought leader in the industry.

• Knowledge Sharing: Cultivate a culture of learning and knowledge exchange, both within the team and across the organization, enhancing our collective technical expertise.

5. Client & Strategic Relationship Management:

• Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, offering strategic insights and ensuring that consulting services consistently meet or exceed client expectations.

• Business Development: Partner with the sales team to scope projects, develop proposals, and win new business, leveraging your technical expertise to drive revenue growth.

6. Operations & Performance Management:

• Operational Efficiency: Oversee the development and enhancement of reporting models, ensuring accurate and timely data for decision-making and operational improvements.

• Financial Accuracy: Review and approve client invoices, ensuring precision and compliance with contractual terms.

7. Leadership Team Collaboration & Strategic Participation:

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the leadership team at Collectiv to align the Consulting department’s goals with overall business objectives. Your input will be crucial in shaping company-wide strategies and ensuring cohesive execution across departments.

• Leadership L10 Meetings: Actively participate in Leadership L10 meetings, providing data-driven insights and contributing to high-level decision-making processes. You will regularly present key metrics, operational updates, and strategic initiatives related to the Consulting department, ensuring that leadership decisions are informed by real-time consulting performance data.

Principal Duties:

• Lead and mentor Consulting Team Leads through regular 1-on-1 meetings, ensuring effective management of consultants and project assignments.

• Drive accurate forecasting and monitoring of consulting revenue and utilization rates, consistently aligning with business objectives.

• Oversee compliance with consulting technologies and processes, leading continuous improvement efforts.

• Provide thought leadership in consulting technologies, particularly Power BI and the Azure Data stack.

• Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts with deep technical insights.

• Manage operational tasks, including reporting, process enhancements, and invoice review.

• Contribute to consulting hiring and onboarding processes, ensuring that candidates possess the necessary skills in Power BI and the Azure Data stack. 

• Collaborate with the leadership team and actively contribute to Leadership L10 meetings, ensuring alignment and strategic coherence across the organization, presenting insights and data-driven recommendations.

Standards and Measures of Performance:

• Utilization: Achieve a minimum utilization rate of 75% across the Consulting department.

• Forecast Accuracy: Ensure forecasting accuracy within a 5% variance.

• Strategic Goal Achievement: Attain a 75% completion rate for company and individual rocks.

• Client Satisfaction: Maintain an average of 10 billable hours per week and deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions using Power BI and the Azure Data stack.

• Leadership Reporting: Proactively provide insights and updates on key metrics to the leadership team.
