St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne aims to reduce the Elective Surgery Length of Stay by 2% over the next 12 months. To achieve this, the Surgical Services have identified several priority areas for improvement.
The Project Lead will play a pivotal role in driving and delivering these improvements across Surgical Services. They will lead key projects, including:
In addition to these focus areas, the Project Lead will identify and pursue other opportunities to enhance surgical service delivery, optimise patient flow, and contribute to improved patient outcomes, aligning with the hospital’s broader continuous improvement goals.

About the Surgical Services Team
The Surgical Services Project Officer will be located at the main campus of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne in Fitzroy. They will have dual reporting to Surgical Services and Continuous Improvement. The primary workspace will be with the Continuous Improvement team which provides specialist improvement capability to the organisation to lead and drive improvement. This team works from a non-clinical space with other support departments such as Quality and Patient Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Decision Support Unit and Finance. However, the Surgical Services Project Officer will regularly visit clinical spaces within walking distance at the main campus in Fitzroy and at St. Vincent’s Hospital on the Park in East Melbourne and is likely to work from these locations at times. They are setup to work in a mobile fashion as the needs of the organisation require. Remote working is supported on days where an on-site presence is not required to progress work.
