DoD SkillBridge Internship:Marketing Manager

Industry Mentor: Uptima

(Remote includes more than 50% of the time spent live/virtual with Vets2PM, Uptima staff, and/or communicating with clients.)

Overview: 
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns, leading marketing projects, and utilizing analytics to optimize strategies. Key responsibilities include marketing strategy development, campaign planning and execution, business development integration, lead generation and nurturing, analytics and reporting, team leadership and collaboration, brand management, and market research and competitive analysis.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Marketing Manager with a strong foundation in both marketing strategy and business development. This individual will be responsible for creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, lead generation, and business growth. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in marketing, combined with hands-on experience as a Business Development Representative (BDR), enabling them to effectively bridge the gap between marketing initiatives and sales performance. The Marketing Manager will lead marketing projects across various channels, work closely with Customer Success Managers and Delivery Managers, and utilize analytics to optimize strategies and contribute to the company’s growth objectives. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with a strong mix of creativity, analytical thinking, and sales-oriented mindset.

Marketing Strategy Development :
Develop and implement data-driven marketing strategies aligned with the company's business objectives, ensuring effective targeting of key customer segments and geographic markets.
  • Campaign Planning & Execution: Lead and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns (digital, email, social media, content marketing, events, etc.) aimed at increasing lead generation, brand awareness, and customer engagement.
  • Business Development Integration: Collaborate with the sales team to develop targeted marketing materials, lead generation campaigns, and support BDR efforts. Assist in the qualification and conversion of marketing leads into sales opportunities.
  • Lead Generation & Nurturing: Develop programs to generate high-quality leads and drive conversions. Oversee lead nurturing efforts, ensuring marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) are passed to the sales team with clear next steps.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics (KPIs), adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure campaigns meet lead generation and sales goals.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and mentor a marketing team, providing guidance on best practices, creative ideation, and project execution. Collaborate with sales, product, and customer success teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Brand Management: Maintain and evolve the company’s brand identity and ensure consistency across all marketing channels and touchpoints. Elevate brand presence through targeted messaging and content.
  • Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Conduct ongoing research to stay ahead of market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences, adapting strategies to leverage new opportunities.


Skills & Knowledge :
  • Knowledgeable in SFDC CRM at a high level
  • Expertise in digital marketing channels (SEO, SEM, email marketing, social media, content creation, etc.).
  • Proficiency in marketing automation platforms (Pardot, Marketo, etc.) are a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft compelling content and presentations.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. ● A creative and strategic thinker with the ability to innovate and drive results.


Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. MBA or advanced certifications in marketing are a plus.


Preferred Attributes :
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced or startup environment.
  • Familiarity with customer segmentation and targeting strategies.
  • Experience in B2B marketing and understanding of complex sales cycles.


Compensation if hired after the internship :
Compensation range is estimated between $73K - $92K; this may vary based on experience level, location, internship performance; this is an estimate.
