Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Student Recruitment will lead a team of recruitment professionals, collaborate with
various departments, and engage with potential students, parents, and community partners to
achieve enrollment goals. The Director of Student Recruitment also oversees the to align recruitment
of and messaging to students.

The ideal candidate for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine Medical School Recruiting Director must possess an engaging personality to effectively communicate and build relationships with applicants who wish to become the next generation of physicians in Arkansas. The successful candidate must place a high premium on the day-to-day outreach through social media and personal visits with our four-year colleges in Arkansas and the surrounding border states as well as our two-year colleges and select high schools in Arkansas. Now that we have four medical schools in Arkansas, the Recruiting Director must coordinate campus tours so applicants can see that UAMS is the state’s only academic health center and why they should come to UAMS for their undergraduate medical education. Cultivating relationships with students, non-traditional applicants, college premedical advisors, high school counselors would be an everyday challenge and opportunity for the Medical School Recruiting Director.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, digital/online marketing, human resources, business, or related field plus four (4) years of experience in marketing or recruiting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in marketing, digital/online marketing, human resources, business, or a related field.

  • Experience in collegiate recruitment; medical school student recruitment highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Good customer service skills.

  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft products, particularly Outlook, OneDrive, and Excel.

  • Experience creating and utilizing PowerPoint presentations for campus presentations.

  • The ability to travel and work evenings and weekends for on-and off-campus events.

  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention practices and principles.

  • Outstanding organizational, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills delivered from a client-centered perspective.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, including prioritizing competing demands.

  • Ability to manage all aspects of complex programs and events.

  • Ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to develop effective technical tools for supporting recruitment activities.

  • Ability to travel throughout Arkansas and beyond as needed for recruitment purposes.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and implements an effective strategy to increase the number of well-qualified applicants for the College of Medicine.  This strategy will include both digital and in-person methods.

  • Designs marketing brochures or publications for in-person recruiting events to target different populations.

  • Leads in scheduling and implementing recruitment visits/events at colleges and universities in the region.

  • Directs and implements UAMS campus and virtual recruitment events for prospective students.

  • Leads the development and implementation of a student ambassador program in which current medical students participate in the recruitment activities of the College.

  • Represents the College of Medicine at college and career fairs, conventions, and student recruitment events.

  • Utilizes the recruiting software in Workday to track and connect with prospective students.

  • Directs reporting and analysis related to recruitment and admissions; monitors and tracks the effectiveness of recruitment efforts to make informed decisions for future recruitment efforts.

  • Participates in the enrollment processes, including advising applicants, processing AMCAS applications, coordinating interview activities, and managing databases.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
