Job Description
The Baker Tilly Investment Services (BTIS) Portfolio Analyst will be responsible for various administrative and operational duties while learning the business and taking on investment responsibilities. This role includes the preparation of investment illustrations, investment analysis and bidding, preparation of client-requested special reports, and assistance with the quarterly fee process. A Series 65 license is required to perform client advisory work. Candidates will be expected to have or obtain a Series 65 within 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
Prepare investment illustrations and presentations
Update client records
Maintain trade blotter
Investment Analysis and Bidding:
Conduct pre-trade investment analysis
Research eligible investment language and draw schedules
Perform initial analysis of operating funds and construction projects
Track maturities for reinvestments
Prepare recommendations for clients
Research bidding banks and brokers
Manage the competitive bid process
Trade Date Duties:
Log and present results to clients
Make recommendations and confirm decisions
Notify winning bidders and provide instructions
Prepare direction letters for clients to custodians
Post-Trade Duties:
Confirm settlement of investments
Log trades on the blotter
Communicate results to other bidders
Fee Management:
Collect balance information from custodians
Calculate fees and prepare fee spreadsheets
Review and approve fee invoices
Prepare and distribute fee emails
Special Statements and Reports:
Prepare periodic investment summaries and interest earnings reports
Create miscellaneous summaries as requested by clients
Qualifications
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proficiency in financial analysis and investment management tools
Series 65 license (or obtain it within 12 months on the job)
