Position Details

We are looking for an Accounting Analyst to join the Controllership team of our client, a leading real estate company based in New York. This role will report to the Senior Accounting Manager of the client’s Development Marketing Group. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the daily activities of new development projects. This includes processing billings, handling deposits, processing commission payments, and managing related compliance, accounting, and reporting tasks. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with various national operational teams, legal and accounting teams, agents, and landlords.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing complex agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Support the evaluation of individual projects and their financial performance.
• Process project billings, deposits, and commission payments.
• Track and maintain detailed revenue and expense schedules.
• Prepare relevant accounting entries.
• Collaborate with the accounting team on account reconciliations and monthly analytics.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure proper application of payments.
• Provide support to operational teams, agents, landlords, and legal and accounting teams.
• Created and distributed internal reports to various teams and executive management.
• Drive process improvement and standardize procedures across markets.
• Ensure proper controls are operating effectively and collaborate with the accounting team on improvements.
• Coordinate with external auditors for financial audits and controls testing.
• Perform other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting.
• CPA preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant accounting experience.

Knowledge and Competencies

• Knowledge of residential real estate is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
• High proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Outstanding customer service skills and team collaboration.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
