Climate Collective Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting climate tech startups. We work within the climate ecosystem to foster innovation by connecting startups with funding, investors, education, and accelerator programs. Our remote team of 40 members operates collaboratively to drive impactful, sustainable solutions for climate-related challenges.

About the Role

The Policy Research Vertical at the Climate Collective Foundation focuses on advancing sub-national climate technology solutions by providing policymakers with data-driven insights and fostering strategic collaborations.

 As a Policy and Govt. Strategy Associate, you will play a pivotal role in advancing climate tech startup policies and green-sectoral policies. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth research, developing insightful case studies, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to support the harmonization of climate tech initiatives. Your efforts will help drive sustainability goals in sectors such as energy, mobility, waste, water, etc. Additionally, you will develop and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies and other key partners, while also implementing effective communication strategies to raise awareness and usage of policy data dashboards and case studies. Your work will involve continuous monitoring and evaluation of policy impacts, providing data-driven recommendations for improvements.

Duration: 12 months (possibility of contract extension)


Key Responsibilities

 

As a Policy and Strategy Associate, you will play a crucial role in advancing climate tech startup policies and green-sectoral policies. Your responsibilities include:

·       Conducting research to support policy development and harmonization efforts related to climate tech startups and sustainability. Utilize qualitative and quantitative methods to gather insights and develop comprehensive reports and case studies.

·       Collaborate on the formulation of policies that promote climate tech innovation in sectors such as energy, mobility, waste, water, etc. Develop case studies showcasing the role of startups in achieving sustainability goals.

·       Engage with subnational policymakers, industry stakeholders, and international organizations to gather feedback, build relationships, and advocate for policy initiatives.

·       Develop strategies to establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector entities to foster a supportive ecosystem for climate tech startups.

·       Assist in implementing communication strategies to raise awareness about policy impacts, utilizing data dashboards, and disseminating findings through case studies and policy briefs.

·       Monitor the implementation and impact of policies, providing timely evaluations and recommendations for improvements based on data-driven insights.



Requirements
Qualifications and Experience

·       Preferably Masters Degree in relevant field. 

·       With an overall experience of 5-8 years, previous experience of at least 3 years in policy development or advisory roles, particularly in the climate or sustainable development sectors.

·       Experience of 3 or more years working with subnational government agencies or international organizations.

·       Understanding of the startup ecosystem and innovation policies.

·       Experience in advocacy and capacity building to drive policy impact.

·       Experience in developing strategies to build and maintain relationships with government agencies and other key partners.

·       Experience is organizing stakeholder consultations with a variety of stakeholders including government bodies.

 

Skills Required

·        Strong research and analytical abilities with proficiency in qualitative and quantitative methods.

·        Deep understanding of climate tech, sustainability, and green-sectoral policies.

·        Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive reports and policy briefs.

·        Proficiency in data visualization and presentation tools.

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

·        Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex policy challenges.

·        Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
