Product Managers at NGP VAN are responsible for delivering minimum lovable products that meet our customer needs and company goals. As Product Manager you will help define and deliver market leading functionality to help organizations organize and mobilize supporters, raise money and optimize their engagement campaigns. You’ll help organizations of all sizes be exceptional at building relationships with their most valuable supporters, volunteers, and donors.


You will be expected to analyze user problems, assess user/customer needs, document conditions of acceptance and collaborate closely with team members to take new features from idea to reality. This position has no direct reports but carries a great deal of influence by building and fostering trust among team members, customers and stakeholders. This position oversees team product planning and shepherds product development efforts by working closely with cross-functional team members. Successful product managers build team consensus, gain trust at all levels of the organization, resolve conflict by listening first, and deliver value to our customers.  

What You'll Do

  • Closely collaborate and engage with product leadership and stakeholders internal and external to NGP VAN to define and prioritize a roadmap that delivers value for existing users.  Bring everyone along by clearly communicating rationale and trade-offs.

  • Identify and negotiate minimum viable product solutions that will provide the highest value to current and prospective customers.

  • Be a positive voice and evangelist for NGP VAN’s products, services and tools.

  • Act as the voice of NGP VAN’s customers and partners, advocating for customer needs across the organization.

  • Translating domain knowledge, client goals and customer needs into effective user stories.

  • Clearly define the who, what, and why of new features and write detailed requirements that have clear, testable acceptance criteria.

  • Recognize and manage problems when they arise, solve them quickly and efficiently, understanding the need to make tradeoffs in order to keep progress moving.

  • Organize and understand a wide variety of needs and wants, then communicate those priorities to your team.

  • Advocate strongly for the solution that you believe will most delight our current and future customers.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 3-5+ years of experience in software product management within an Agile environment preferred 

  • Familiarity with political and electoral organizing, fundraising, advocacy, engagement programs and software

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Able and support overall company/product visions, as well as minute details; balance business and customer objectives

  • Able to become an expert in how organizations use their supporter, voter, donor and other systems of record to drive organizing, fundraising, and advocacy outcomes.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience working in electoral politics for a campaign, party, or other organization

  • Experience working with or an understanding of voter, donor, and or supporter data systems of record (Votebuilder, Salesforce, etc.)

  • Experience collaborating with technology vendors and platforms serving electoral organizations

Compensation

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and in addition to benefits this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity. 

US Base Salary Range: $98,600 - $150,000

For international applicants, actual salary offers and benefit plans may vary based on the local market compensation standards and will be determined in accordance with regional considerations, including but not limited to applicable laws, cost of living, and industry norms.
