Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Speech and Language Therapist to join our adult community team in Barnet, North London. This is an ongoing, full-time role with a focus on routine dysphagia work. The role primarily involves completing initial and follow-up assessments for patients in their homes and nursing homes. You will be expected to drive between locations for assessments, though follow-up assessments can be conducted remotely. This is a great opportunity for someone with expertise in dysphagia management and who enjoys working with adult patients in a community setting.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for conducting initial and follow-up assessments for patients with dysphagia in their homes and nursing homes. Based on these assessments, you will develop and implement individualized treatment plans. You will provide interventions for adult patients with swallowing difficulties and communication disorders while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective care and outcomes. Additionally, you will liaise with family members and carers to support treatment and care plans. Follow-up assessments will be delivered remotely when appropriate. You will be expected to keep accurate and up-to-date patient records, participate in team meetings and supervision sessions, and adhere to professional and ethical standards of practice.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Extensive experience in dysphagia management, particularly within the adult community setting.
  • Previous experience in a locum or community-based role is desirable.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a car.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to remote working for follow-up assessments when required.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
