Job description

FlexNetworks, a leader in the fibreoptics space and looking for a talented, experienced and driven Senior Director of Carrier and Wholesale Relations will spearhead our Carrier sales strategies and enhance our wholesale business. This role will report to and work closely with our CEO.

This department-head role demands a robust understanding of the telecommunications landscape, including trends in carrier services, network technologies, and regulatory issues pertinent to the Canadian market. You will lead a compact team of Carrier Sales Executives, driving the development of profitable, strategic relationships with carriers, ISPs, resellers and major clients.

Unlike a typical sales role this role is going to be heavy on relationship building, with a heavier focus on expand (versus just land!). It's ideal for someone who knows the carrier space, who is truly driven by expansion and working closely with clients of all types. This is not a dial for dollars team, it's a company who love what they do, and a group that sees the impact that their product can have on the world. We're looking for hustle, high IQ, low ego.

About the Role
  • Strategic Leadership and Quota Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to enhance carrier and wholesale services, achieving and surpassing assigned sales quotas.
  • Team Management and Development: Mentor and lead one Senior Account Executive and one Quotation Specialist, setting clear sales targets and key performance indicators. Monitor team performance regularly to ensure achievement of sales objectives.
  • Business Development: Spearhead the identification and conversion of new business opportunities, transitioning prospects into valuable customers through strategic contract negotiations and buy-outs.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain profitable, long-term relationships with key partners and stakeholders. Act as a senior relationship manager for major carrier accounts.
  • Contract Negotiation and Closing: Directly negotiate and close deals with carriers and wholesale clients, ensuring favorable terms that support both strategic and financial objectives of the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, customer service, and technical teams to align sales strategies with overall business goals.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • You're a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, have a strong desire to exceed performance expectations and are customer obsessed.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com; CRM and billing systems experience a plus.
  • You thrive is fast paced environment. you're deadline driven and communicate clearly and regularly.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Telecommunications, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Over 8 years of experience in telecommunications with a significant focus on carrier sales and wholesale operations or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in meeting or exceeding sales quotas within a senior management role.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Canadian telecommunications industry, including its regulatory and competitive landscape.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required for business needs.
  • A valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid government of Canada security Reliability status
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel & PowerPoint
