Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Phonics Online Instructor to deliver interactive and engaging phonics lessons to children through virtual platforms. The instructor will guide young learners in mastering reading skills, letter-sound relationships, blending and decoding words. The ideal candidate will have experience in early childhood education and a love for fostering literacy skills in young minds.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lesson Planning & Delivery:
  • Develop age-appropriate phonics lessons focused on foundational literacy skills.
  • Conduct engaging and interactive online classes using tools such as videos, songs and games.
  • Use real-life examples, stories and visuals to teach letter recognition, sounds, blending and segmenting.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the varying needs of learners.
2. Student Engagement & Monitoring:
  • Encourage student participation through quizzes, activities and games.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments and provide individualized feedback.
  • Address difficulties in letter-sound correspondence, blending and phonemic awareness.
  • Foster a fun and positive virtual learning environment to enhance motivation.
3. Parent Communication & Collaboration:
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress.
  • Provide recommendations for at-home reading activities and practice.
  • Address parent queries and concerns promptly through email or scheduled meetings.
4. Administrative Tasks:
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and performance.
  • Prepare and share progress reports at regular intervals.
  • Collaborate with the curriculum team to enhance teaching materials.
  • Stay updated with current best practices in phonics education.

Requirements
1. Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, English or a related field.
  • Certification or training in phonics programs such as Jolly Phonics, Orton-Gillingham or Montessori (preferred).
2. Experience:
  • Prior teaching experience with children (preferably 3–8 years old).
  • Experience with virtual learning tools and online platforms.
3. Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use fun, creative teaching methods to keep children engaged.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and phonics methodologies.
  • Patience and enthusiasm for working with young learners.
4. Technical Requirements:
  • Strong internet connection, webcam, and microphone for virtual classes.
  • Familiarity with tools like Zoom, Google Classroom, or MS Teams.
