Job description

Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Driving the data strategy in the group and the continuous insights strategy for the company, coordinating closely with the Product Leads and Engineering Leads.
  • Coaching and guiding a team of Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers, contributing to the growth and success of the Continuous Insights subgroup.
  • Closely coordinating with several collaborators with a real sense of drive and initiative to keep things moving.
  • Managing projects, prioritising and working with product managers, designers and engineers to build up our product insights platforms.
  • Helping to extend data literacy and curiosity throughout the whole company through your work in defining our product insights platforms.
  • Finding insights that help us understand both Canva and our customers - we want you to be creative and insightful, rather than just throwing the usual metrics at the wall to see what sticks.
  • Enhancing engineering best practices for data modeling and operationalization within a data warehouse setting.
  • Taking ownership of team warehouse platform namespaces and ensuring that the namespaces comply with evolving platform standards and guidelines.

You're probably a match if:

  • You have demonstrable experience leading data specialists, defining team strategy, and data roadmaps.
  • You have relevant and hands-on experience in general analytics/data engineering, data warehouses and specifically in building and evolving data pipeline capabilities etc.
  • You have proven experience in building strategies and roadmaps for data pipeline & tooling across a large modern business.
  • You’re able to break down complex topics into simple solutions and ideas.
  • You demonstrate strong stakeholder empathy and customer focus, coordinating across all organizational levels.
  • You possess strategic thinking with a pragmatic approach to execution.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and manage changes effectively.

About the team

This group is dedicated to creating reliable insight-as-a-service platforms that assist the entire company in planning and decision-making. • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
