Job description

Contract: Permanent, working 35 hours per week (Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)

Salary: £35,225 per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Location: Midlands (Nottingham or Birmingham), North East and Yorkshire area (based in Newcastle or Leeds) and the South West (based in Bristol). The role will be based at any of the offices listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week.

Arts Council England is looking for three motivated and knowledgeable Relationship and Development Managers to join our Music Hubs team. This is a key role in supporting the development and performance of Music Hubs across England, ensuring that they facilitate exceptional music education to children and young people.

There are three full-time permanent Relationship and Development Manager positions available: one to represent the Midlands (based in Nottingham or Birmingham), one in the North East and Yorkshire area (based in Newcastle or Leeds) and one for the South West (based in Bristol). Please specify in your application the area you would like to be considered for.

In these roles, you will build meaningful relationships with a portfolio of Music Hubs, providing ongoing support, monitoring their progress, and helping them overcome challenges. You’ll take an active role in observing Hub activities, attending events, and using data and performance assessments to guide Hubs toward achieving their goals.

Additionally, you will apply your expertise in a specialist area of music education—whether it’s Early Years, Inclusion, Youth Voice or any of the others list—to shape policies and training that enhance the quality of delivery across the network. You can see the full list of specialist areas in the job description.

Working closely with Music Hubs, their partners, and key stakeholders, such as Local Authorities, you will facilitate collaboration and foster connections that drive the programme forward. You’ll also collaborate with your fellow Relationship and Development Managers and the Senior Relationship and Development Manager to ensure a unified and strategic approach to the programme’s success.

These roles require someone with practical experience in music education or related fields, alongside strong interpersonal and analytical skills. If you are passionate about making a difference in music education and can bring a strategic, collaborative approach to your work, we’d love to hear from you.
