Job description

MCS Group is currently working alongside a global grants management software organisation to recruit a Business Development Manager.


The role will focus on building and developing relationships with both new and existing customers throughout the UK. This will be a remote first position, however the individual must be based in GB to attend regular visits with customers.

Base salary of between £50k - £60k and realistic first year OTE of £80k - £90k.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Sell products and services to prospects, driving growth and expanding their client base.
  • Lead outbound follow-ups with prospects, collaborating with your team to maximize engagement.
  • Develop and execute team strategies within an agile framework to achieve key objectives.
  • Travel to connect with prospects, partners, and industry influencers, fostering valuable relationships.
  • Maintain detailed records of accounts, forecasts, transactions, and activities in systems like Salesforce.com.
  • Craft and deliver tailored presentations and product demonstrations to meet prospect needs.
  • Assist prospects in building compelling business cases to present to their boards and decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with sales management and marketing to ensure consistent product and service messaging aligned with business goals.
  • Work with Sales Development Representatives to seamlessly transition high-quality leads.
  • Engage with existing clients to gather feedback and identify future business opportunities.
  • Partner with the implementation team to clarify and define client requirements for smooth project execution.
  • Offer insights to product management to support ongoing product improvements and innovation.
  • Provide feedback to marketing on sales tools, prospect insights, and campaign outcomes.
  • Participate in seminars, trade shows, and webinars to elevate brand visibility and engagement.
  • Stay informed about the foundations and philanthropy sector, positioning yourself as a knowledgeable resource.

Essential Criteria:

  • 2+ years' experience in outbound sales within a B2B software/SaaS environment.
  • Experience in Grants Management, Non-Profit, or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is highly desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for technology, with the ability to communicate confidently about data and software.
  • Exceptional listening and probing skills, enabling you to assess needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Focus on acquiring new business while maintaining and growing existing client relationships.
  • Proven ability to drive qualified leads to conversion by guiding prospects through the sales process and addressing their challenges.
  • Experience navigating complex procurement steps and security reviews.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ensuring effective follow-up and disciplined activity management.
  • Tenacious and resilient, always seeking new ways to succeed and undeterred by setbacks.
  • Competitive drive combined with a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
