Position Summary

For smaller-scale and less complex features, the Assessment Technology Specialist will be expected to independently define and implement configurable system capabilities, define and elaborate the requirements for new and updated system functions, and directly write and maintain support documentation in addition to performing end-user support and training activities. Some independent work may be done in consultation with more senior staff, and this position may contribute to larger-scale and more complex features in collaboration with more senior staff.

The position is distinctive in that it requires the ability to independently participate on teams supporting assessment design, assessment technology capabilities, and agile system development activities. Staff in this role may be asked to serve as a team member on agile sprint teams.

Responsibilities

  • Jointly contribute to improvements to processes for assessment design, development, administration, scoring, and reporting that lead to better utilization of and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Contribute to implementation of enterprise-wide standardization by constraining variation in systems use across testing programs.
  • Contribute to cost estimates within the division for ETS initiatives and RFP responses, including documenting program design features that drive systems costs.
  • Contribute to technology development team as feature contributor or lead for medium to high complexity features.
  • Contribute to teams building and implementing process automation and optimization including build and adoption activities defined within the team.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job function.

Required Experience:

Knowledge/Skills

  • Familiarity and novice-level experience with 2-4 of the following:
    • Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Zephyr, ServiceNow
    • Microsoft tools including PowerApps, PowerAutomate, Teams, SharePoint
    • Cloud infrastructure services such as Amazon Web Services or MS Azure
    • Artificial Intelligence services and integration opportunities
    • UI/UX design standards and supporting tools such as Axshare, Adobe XD, Figma
    • SQL
  • Thrive in role as liaison between IT and business users.
  • Working knowledge of testing, measurement, and processes for designing, building, and delivering assessments preferred.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and problem identification skills.
  • Excellent information and data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Excellent technical and business terminology to consult with clients, vendors, and other internal staff preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate decision-making in groups, and communicate and ensure implementation of agreed-upon decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and proactively suggest and manage to solutions.
  • Clear, effective interpersonal and presentational communication skills--both oral and written.

EDUCATION

  • A Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and experience can be acquired is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience is required.
