Responsibilities

As Manager, People Operations, you will be responsible for building people processes critical to supporting the fast-paced growth of the company and fostering its ability to scale. This role will partner directly with the Head of People on people initiatives including HR compliance, onboarding/offboarding, and administration of compensation changes, benefits and leaves. You will have a front-row seat to how we establish our organization, culture, and people processes.

In this role you will:

  • Manage all people operations functions, including but not limited to benefit and compensation administration, HRIS management and employee data, payroll, onboarding/offboarding, leave management, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal employment law and regulations and update policies/procedures as required.
  • Manage and develop the benefit program and strategy, designing a competitive program for employees.
  • Use HR metrics to develop clear insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to and support with broader people projects spanning culture, DEI, retention, training, and performance management.
  • Be a steward of Pomelo’s culture, implementing virtual team engagement and other best-practices to promote an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace.
  • Collect feedback to understand the needs of our employees and take ownership of identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement that simplifies people processes and policies as the organization scales.

Who you are

  • 3+ years of People Operations experience working with high-growth teams
  • Significant experience in benefits administration, systems administration, compensation and related HR-process functions
  • Strong handle on compliance and best practices in the space
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and excited to build things from scratch
  • Strong operational thinker, with a knack for solving problems and building solutions
  • Proven experience developing partnerships across all levels of the organization, particularly during periods of significant growth
  • Commitment to driving diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives and a strong personal conviction toward combating racism
  • Ability to be discrete and maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.

Why you should join our team

By joining Pomelo, you will get in on the ground floor of a fast-moving, well-funded, and mission-driven startup where you will have a profound impact on the patients we serve. And you'll learn, grow, be challenged, and have fun with your team while doing it. We strive to create an environment where employees from all backgrounds are respected. We value working across disciplines, moving fast, data-driven decision making, learning, and always putting the patient first. We also offer:

  • Competitive healthcare benefits
  • Generous equity compensation
  • Flexible vacation

At Pomelo, we are committed to hiring the best team to improve outcomes for all mothers and babies, regardless of their background. We need diverse perspectives to reflect the diversity of problems we face and the population we serve. We look to hire people from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, and veteran status.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, variable compensation, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $95,000-$115,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
