The Materials Performance Engineer is responsible for moving the business forward through innovation and continuous process improvement. This position is the preferred contact with Plants to assess performance and operations in all limestone processing circuits. In addition, the role provides guidance and support to operations, engineering and project management for equipment selection, design and execution of capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight for onsite safety for operations and construction as applicable.
  • Assist in the analyzing and troubleshooting of process and maintenance problems and identification of solutions, which reduce downtime and minimize maintenance and operating costs.
  • Identify and implement projects that improve quality and/or reduce plant-operating costs in a safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Evaluate and optimize process circuits and equipment performance. Propose modifications in order to improve plant performance.
  • Determines methods, procedures, parts and equipment needed to implement process-engineering changes.
  • Meet the end users expectations with a focus on functional effectiveness, long-term reliability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Implements consistent internal goals and tasks for Carmeuse North America operations.
  • Ability to develop process flow charts. Utilize AggFlow and other industry programs to provide and maintain support for Engineering and Process at sites.
  • Monitor process equipment and conducts audits to standardize process operations and achieve expected process key performance indicators. Identify potential errors and develop solutions to eliminate the recurrence of those problems.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information to provide guidance for implementation including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructional media.
  • Works to maintain and further develop expertise and proficiency in the area of stone processing.
  • Works with vendors to specify and provide correct and best value equipment for cost efficient and dependable operation.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering or similar Engineering discipline; or Associates/ Bachelor’s degree with applicable experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in the aggregates/lime/cement/ or Sand and Gravel industry.
  • Experience with a wide range of mining, crushing, screening, material handling and milling equipment.
  • Proficiency with MSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Proficiency with process control of stone processing equipment design and aggregate manufacture. Detail and process oriented with strong problem resolution abilities; ability to use root cause analysis to troubleshoot;
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, primarily in the US and Canada. Overnight stays will be required and could include extended assignments during critical construction and start-up periods.
