Description

SAIC has an upcoming opportunity for a Senior Investigative Forensic Support Technician to join our growing team. We have an exciting opportunity to support a Federal Financial agency enhance their forensic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Processes incoming biometric transactions from law enforcement agencies.
  • Updates, creates, develops Laboratory Operating Manual section, Standard Operating Procedures, policies, intake forms, reports, and processes for Multi-Biometric Identification (MBIS).
  • Provides expert training and support on systems used for MBIS.
  • Assists the CI in the identification of persons of interest by automated or manual biometric identification methods.
  • Conducts ongoing quality control reviews of biometric data, such as Livescans by correcting records that have the wrong subject biometrics or demographics attached, and maintaining, updating, and correcting records.
  • Participates in annual accreditation audit for the Crime Lab.
  • Performs the automated workflow in system.
  • Supports technical and administrative review and compiles statistical information related to technical and administrative reviews of examination reports.
  • Performs initial image accuracy processing steps for all incoming transactions to
  • ensure that biometric images are captured correctly.
  • Identifies any problems related to image accuracy and demographic data entry and contacts the associated law enforcement agency to correct the transmission.
  • Performs verification of system results, including review and disposition (e.g. Hit, No Hit) of automated biometric system candidate lists and confirms that the submitted biometric record is assigned to a correct and valid file number.
  • Identifies problems with biometric transactions and documents the specific problem(s) identified and contacts appropriate vendor help desk, system maintenance and/or information technology staff for assistance with resolving system problems.
  • Reviews and compares biometric images from different sources and assign proper individual identifying numbers to the records in the Laboratory
  • Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Conducts automated and manual biometric comparisons and searches, and research biometric data.
  • Reviews requests for assistance in resolving technical and administrative errors, communicates with staff regarding problems with the request(s) they initiated or verified and reports to supervisor when multiple issues or trends are observed with requests.
  • Answers phone inquiries from law enforcement agents, departments, and other public agencies to assist in determining type of biometric examination needed (e.g. fingerprint analysis, mobile identification, face recognition/identification, iris identification, etc.).
  • Discusses quality of biometric data needed for accurate comparison and matching, clarifies reasons for rejected biometric data submitted by facilities and relays information to Cal-ID staff regarding problematic/rejected biometric transactions.
  • Assists with sealing and/or the destruction of biometrics records, including reviewing seal/destruction requests to ensure correct record will be sealed/destroyed.
  • Testifies in court as an expert witness or fact witness.
  • Successfully support Investigative and operational activities as described in program areas above.
  • Assist CI in developing, deploying, maintaining a suite of data analytic and forensic tools and data store to further the agency core mission.
  • Provide forensic user support for on-premises cloud or off-premises government cloud environments.
  • Provide onsite data center support for forensic systems, including but not limited to uploading forensic images, connecting drives.
  • Deploy and maintain cloud environments used for digital forensic analysis.
  • Respond to cloud and other large seizures by providing rapid system configurations and support.
  • Support customer tickets within 24-36 hours for 2500 persistent Virtual Machine, 100-300 physical machines connected to an Azure environment, and around 3000 users.
  • Automate system reporting, statistics, user permissions, application streaming.
  • Support daily case support.
  • Comply, assist with maintaining, all General Support System (GSS) System Security Plans (SSP) and Internal Revenue Manual(IRM) standards for CI environments.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelors degree and 9 years of experience. May accept additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have 4+ years of Forensic experience
  • Must have at least 4 years of MBIS experience
  • Must have 5+ years of experience working in a crime lab
  • Must have 4+ years of experience working with Bio-metric data
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Secret clearance

Target salary range $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
