Senior Director, Transportation.
Role Summary
The Senior Director will lead the Client Support team to achieve the client’s customer experience goals, drive proactive strategy, collaboration, innovation and talent development. The role will be responsible for key strategic transportation initiatives, while overseeing day-to-day activities of all managed transportation clients across Radial NA multi-site network, including full profit and loss responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Client Support team regarding strategic and tactical aspects of the business.
- Develop and maintain client key performance metrics (KPIs), reporting and analytics to support proactive communication and action.
- Serve as a transportation subject matter expert regarding new business opportunities and existing client cost and service performance, reporting and optimizations.
- Participate in the preparedness and presentation of client monthly and / or quarterly business reviews.
- Provide guidance to Finance regarding transportation performance vs. budget and forecasts; identify key areas of opportunity, risk to the plan and make recommendations for necessary adjustments.
- Design and lead transportation optimization projects. Implement new value-added services.
- Follow transportation industry trends, new solutions and technologies to share with clients and Radial cross-functional service lines.
- Identify and evaluate new transportation opportunities by providing in-depth analysis, cost modeling and financial impacts.
- Support external and internal clients with detailed cost and performance analysis for transportation solutions
- Champion client’s process improvement initiatives.
- Drive collaboration across the multiple service lines of the organization including Commercial, Account Management, Solutions, Marketing, HR, Finance, Technology & Fulfillment.
- Maintain good working relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Build a team culture of continuous improvement “mindset” to drive innovation and creativity.
- Ensure sustained focus on associate coaching, talent growth and development plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor' s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive Supply Chain Transportation experience.
- Knowledge of all modes of transportation, domestic and international shipping.
- Experience with ecommerce small parcel shipping preferred.
- Analytical mindset coupled with a strong business acumen.
- Proven experience in data mining, analysis and reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, relational databases and modeling tools. (Llamasoft, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
- Aptitude for critical thinking; problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Outstanding organizational, collaboration and leadership skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Prior 3PL experience a plus.
Scope
- This position reports to the Vice President, Transportation.
- This position will lead the Client Support team, consisting of Senior Manager, Manager and analysts, approximately 9 direct reports.
