In short, you will be holistically responsible for the successful execution of our product strategy. Although you will be directly responsible for all the Software Engineers, you will as well ensure effective cross-functional collaboration between the engineering, product management, user experience, and technical publications organizations. While the primary team is distributed across Australia, the collaboration reach is global, involving building and maintaining close relationships with other senior leaders around the world.

The product scope consists of two different business areas within ERP and HCM. This amounts to 3-5 cross-functional agile teams working on projects spanning backend and frontend development.

This is a senior leadership role with a broad set of responsibilities of People Leadership, Technical Leadership, Delivery & Process Management & Customer Focus.

People Leadership

We believe a successful leader will invest a lot of time into creating a safe environment with plenty of opportunities for individual growth. The success of our product must be built-out of the teams' success. That, in turn, is built by matching individual aspirations and collective companies' goals. As Director of Development, you would be responsible for attracting, hiring and retaining great talent on all levels. Your primary focus will be Senior Managers, Managers, and leadership potentials. Co-creating a great engineering leadership team will have an enormous impact on all aspects of the organization such as culture, craftsmanship, quality, and delivery.

Technical Leadership

We are proud of what we build, and we are proud of how we build it. As an engineering leader, you will help to nurture technical craftsmanship within the team and make sure the proposed solutions follow the best clean code, DevOps, quality, and design practices. You will build up strong technical leadership and continuously incubate new technical talent through internal and external educational opportunities. This position will be a good fit for both more or less involved hands-on engineering leaders.

Delivery & Process Management

The Director of Software Development will be responsible for successful execution against our overall product strategy. You will overlook a scaled agile process and a complete release cycle, working together with product management and design organizations to meet well-established release objectives. You will collaborate on setting up best agile, lean, and design thinking practices assuring the right flexibility, pace, and customer-centricity of our solutions.

Product Focus

Director of Software Development will partner with Product Management in the creation of viable and aspirational product objectives, that could be translated into short term product roadmaps ready for execution. You will be welcome to define your own level of involvement in the "business" side of things, always assuring an effective collaboration with other product roles.

Culture

Lastly, but most importantly, the Director of Software Development will help to nurture and evolve our culture. Culture is not something one creates or establishes, it is something you thoughtfully attempt to look after. You will help to define and champion a set of principles such as Collaboration, Knowledge and Experience sharing, Strength in Diversity, and Mutual Respect amongst others.
