Job description

Job Title: Change Management Consultant

Job Description

Aston Carter is seeking an experienced Change Management Consultant for a utility company. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in BPM, OCM, and requirements elicitation to drive key initiatives and prepare for future technology enablement. Candidates with a strong experience in asset and work management within an electric utility, particularly those with experience in Oracle Work and Asset Management System (WAMS) and/or Work and Asset Cloud Service (WACS), will be given additional consideration. Proficiency in applying BPM Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) and OCM Prosci methodologies is required.

Job Duties

  • Gather all existing process documentation, place it in each project’s respective document repository, and assess its currency and completeness through interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Update incorrect or incomplete documentation to reflect current practices.
  • Develop future state process documentation, considering the out-of-the-box capabilities of the WACS application and adhering to the principle of no customizations.
  • Prepare a comprehensive gap analysis between current ("as-is") work and asset management processes and the desired future state, identifying areas for improvement and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Create a roadmap to transition from "as-is" to the future state, prioritizing business process changes based on impact and effort.
  • Prepare functional requirements documentation for the WACS Phase II technology project.
  • Assess the change impact of proposed solutions, focusing on readiness to successfully launch the implementation, and identify potential resistance or lack of understanding.
  • Develop a preliminary Change Management strategy and plan for technology-dependent process changes.
  • Prepare, develop, and implement a Change Management Plan, including an internal communications plan.
  • Coordinate and deliver the scope of work, including scheduling, presiding over meetings, conducting design/review sessions, providing necessary information, coordinating staff, and testing deliverables.
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping/segmentation, identify "OCM Hi-Potentials," and activate a cross-functional team to manage the change process.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, process owners, and business champions to monitor progress, transfer knowledge, and manage change impacts.
  • Prepare, develop, and implement a comprehensive Training Plan, including a skills inventory, high-quality training materials, and interactive, measurable training sessions to ensure stakeholder proficiency.

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in change management and business process management in the utility industry
  • 3+ years of experience in applying DMAIC methodology
  • 3+ years using BPMn standards with documenting processes
  • Experience in leading and managing change management initiatives for technology transformations (large-scale Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) cloud implementations preferred)
  • Experience working directly with clients & internal teams, following an agile methodology, to understand the business requirements and assess the change impact(s)
  • Ability to identify anticipated points of resistance and develop specific plans to mitigate or address the concerns
  • Experience conducting readiness assessments, evaluating results, and presenting findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
