LocalEyes Group is a leading provider of Localization Services to the international computer and software sectors, with headquarters in Ireland and subsidiaries in Europe. LocalEyes is recruiting freelance translators with Norwegian to localise IT content:


Norwegian Technical Translator

Field of expertise: IT, technical translation (Software User Interface, Print documentation, Online Help)

Location: Remote

Schedule: This work is based on project needs as driven by business needs. Hours can therefore vary and flexibility with a changing schedule is very important. There might be peak periods with full days of work in a row

We are looking for a Norwegian translator who is/has:

  • Native in Norwegian with a degree in Applied Linguistics, Translation or equivalent experience
  • IT skilled with knowledge and experience of SDL Studio and CAT tools
  • 1 -3 years experience in the localization industry as translator for major IT account(s)
  • Extensive experience in technical translation for IT content – Software UI, Technical Documentation and Online Help systems
  • Proven affinity with localisation tools and up to date with language and terminology trends
  • Quality-driven and detail oriented
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills
  • Obsessed by the detail and has a passion for languages
  • Has a flexible work ethic, and willing to working beyond a conventional 9:00-17:30 framework. Some weekend working is required, with ability to work across different time zones
  • Understands dynamics between client and vendor
  • Excellent written and spoken English to truly understand the meaning and translate as if it were originally written in target language
  • Working knowledge of XML or other MarkUp languages
  • Experience translating content containing embedded variables in an XML environment with a high comfort level in manipulating XML type tags during translation is a plus
  • Demonstrated aptitude to independently learn new technologies – translations may be performed using proprietary localisation tool sets
  • Able to work in a fast paced, demanding environment with multiple changes in project priorities and tight deadlines
  • In addition to the above, good editorial skills would be preferred

 

For this role you will be working as part of a dynamic team and in an international environment. Specific responsibilities include technical translations, linguistic review and QA, some project management (content, schedules, reporting), checking of terminology consistency through the management of TMs, MTPE, glossaries and style guides to guarantee the quality of deliverables.
