SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for identifying, developing and managing new and potential client relationships in their assigned territory for ProTrials Research, Inc. The Senior Director of Business Development is a strategic leader responsible for delivering sales, growth, and expansion of ProTrials' services. The Senior Director of Business Development will work closely with the executive team to develop and implement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and business development strategies and initiatives to achieve revenue targets and market expansion; communicate business development strategies and progress to the executive team
  • Identify emerging market trends and business opportunities to guide strategic planning
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded
  • Conduct market research and outreach to identify potential clients and understand their needs and degree of interest in company’s products, services, and timeframe. Utilize established tools outlining ideal customer profile and client/opportunity qualification.
  • Analyze competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions; inform appropriate cross-functional stake holders of significant changes to clients such as financial holdings, mergers/acquisitions, or product development changes
  • Negotiate  budgets and scope of work  to secure new business
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical operations, project delivery directors, resourcing, and finance, to ensure seamless service delivery; ensure appropriate hand-off of new projects to the project team
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development activities
  • Oversee the preparation of compelling proposals and presentations; manage full-cycle bid proposal and bid defense process including coordination, preparation, attendance, and follow-up on proposals and bid defenses
  • Manage, plan, and attend appropriate industry trade shows, conferences, seminars, networking events, etc.
  • Ensure all business development activities are updated and accurate in CRM database

  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Proven success in sales/marketing management, pharmaceutical industry, CRO business development, and/or clinical operations management and proven ability to close sales
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite, virtual meeting software, Salesforce, and CRM applications
  • Ability to travel on notice as short as 24 hours, maintain efficient and effective travel schedule
  • In depth knowledge of the clinical process in a CRO environment

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in business d, marketing or sciences
  • 7+ year’s related sales and business development experience
  • In depth knowledge of the clinical research industry, preferably with hands on industry-related operational experience
  • Previous experience in selling clinical research services
