POSITION SUMMARY:**

We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Director of Real Estate and Facilities to oversee our largely leased retail pharmacy portfolio, as well as Facilities Management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of leasing and real estate, and a proven track record in Lease Administration and negotiation, and Facilities Management. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize property performance, expand our real estate footprint, and drive revenue growth.

This is a fully remote position, with hybrid/on-site options available for those who wish to work from our Toronto Corporate Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Real Estate - Develop and execute comprehensive real estate strategies aligned with the company's objectives. - Lead and manage a team responsible for Lease Administration and negotiation and working closely with the Finance team. On a limited, situation specific basis, real estate disposals. - Negotiate lease agreements, contracts, and other real estate transactions to ensure favorable terms. - Establish and maintain strong relationships with property owners, brokers, and vendors. - Analyze market trends, competition, and industry developments to make informed decisions. - Identify and evaluate new real estate opportunities in support of greenfield expansion as required. - Provide regular reports, financial analysis, and performance metrics to senior management. - Oversee property management activities where applicable, including sub-tenant relations, rent collection, and maintenance.

Facilities - Facilities Maintenance: Managing and coordinating maintenance, repairs, and renovations for multiple pharmacy and retail locations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. - Vendor Management: Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to negotiate contracts, ensure quality service, and maintain cost-effective relationships. - Compliance and Safety: Ensuring that all facilities adhere to industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements, including OHSA and provincial compliance. - Project Management: Overseeing and coordinating construction projects, expansions, or remodels of pharmacy and retail locations, from planning to execution. - Collaboration: Collaborating with various departments, including operations, management, and pharmacy teams, to ensure alignment with organizational goals and smooth facility operations. - Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience in real estate management, leasing, or a related field, with 2 - 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Experience in retail, commercial or residential real estate
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree asset.
  • Real Estate license or certification i.e. CPM, CCIM, CRE is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of real estate laws, regulations, and market trends.
  • Proven track record in negotiating complex lease agreements and managing significant multi-unit leased real estate portfolios.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in real estate management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical skills to study problems and records and identify solutions.
  • Team-oriented attitude to help other colleagues and departments with technical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage time and effectively prioritize numerous projects at one time.
