Job description

Electrical Engineer for Healthcare Projects (Full Time, Florida)

Are you a detail-driven Electrical Engineer who’s just as comfortable designing a complete power distribution system as you are producing a clean, code-compliant set of construction documents? Do you believe a hospital should never miss a beat, an operating room should always have power when it matters most, and every panel and circuit should land exactly where the drawings say it will? One of our Florida-based clients is looking for a Full-Time Electrical Engineer to join their team as a true extension of their in-house staff, handling electrical building systems design and documentation on U.S. healthcare and commercial construction projects.

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you’ll do:

  • Design electrical building systems for healthcare facilities, hospitals, medical offices, and similar projects, including power distribution, lighting, branch circuiting, and life safety systems.

  • Perform load calculations, short-circuit and voltage drop analyses, and size feeders, panels, transformers, and related equipment.

  • Design essential electrical systems for healthcare occupancies, including normal, emergency, and critical branch distribution.

  • Produce complete electrical construction documents: power and lighting plans, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, riser diagrams, and key details.

  • Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing disciplines to resolve conflicts before they reach the field.

  • Work with minimal supervision, delivering high-quality documentation that reduces the need for constant redlines.

  • Interpret verbal, graphic (photos and markups), and written instructions clearly and accurately.

  • Proactively communicate progress, flag when a task is close to completion, and ask for the next assignment instead of waiting.

  • Attend team meetings and collaborate seamlessly as a true member of the client’s staff.

  • Adapt to workload peaks and valleys, staying flexible and reliable under tight deadlines.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent technical background with a strong commercial electrical track record.

  • 5 to 6 years of experience in electrical engineering.

  • Proven experience working on healthcare facilities, hospitals, medical offices, or similar projects.

  • Experience in electrical building systems design and construction documentation.

  • Familiarity with U.S. electrical codes and engineering standards, including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 99, and NFPA 101.

  • Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

  • Drawing production: AutoCAD and Revit.

  • High quality standards in documentation and a solid understanding of healthcare codes and requirements.

  • A reliable, committed, and responsible mindset, with a long-term outlook and the ability to own critical deadlines.

A great plus:

  • Familiarity with the Florida Building Code and local amendments, or demonstrated ability to climb a steep code curve fast on previous projects.

  • Knowledge of FGI Guidelines for the design and construction of healthcare facilities.

  • Experience with fire alarm, nurse call, low-voltage, and emergency generator systems.

  • Experience with lighting design and lighting controls, including energy code compliance documentation.

  • Knowledge of Revit families, BIM coordination, and clash detection workflows.

  • Experience responding to construction-phase RFIs and reviewing submittals.

We've got the opportunity, you've got the talent. We want to hear from you! Apply now.
