About the Opportunity

An established and growing third-party logistics (3PL) organization is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and oversee domestic and international transportation and logistics operations.

This fully remote leadership opportunity is ideal for a professional with a strong background in project cargo, freight forwarding, multimodal transportation, and operational management.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of directly leading teams, developing employees, managing performance, and ensuring accountability for operational results.

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of transportation, freight forwarding, and project logistics operations.

• Directly manage, mentor, and develop operations and project management teams.

• Establish performance expectations, provide coaching, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain team accountability.

• Oversee complex domestic and international logistics projects.

• Develop and implement operational standards, procedures, and performance metrics.

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability.

• Collaborate with sourcing, sales, finance, and executive leadership to support business objectives.

• Monitor project performance, financial results, customer satisfaction, and operational risks.

• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and contractual requirements.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and vendors.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

• 7–10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, or third-party logistics.

• Proven experience directly supervising and leading teams, including employee development, performance management, coaching, and accountability.

• Demonstrated success in building and managing high-performing operational teams.

• Previous experience in a senior operations leadership or management role.

• Strong knowledge of project cargo and multimodal transportation.

• Experience managing complex logistics projects and remote teams.

• Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance, financial results, and customer satisfaction.

• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills.

• Proficiency in transportation management systems and Microsoft Office.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience overseeing multiple operational functions within a third-party logistics organization.

• Experience developing and implementing operational processes and performance improvement initiatives.
